CEILING TRANSITION FABRIC REPLACEMENT
Prevost vehicles
DESCRIPTION
On the vehicles affected by this bulletin, replace defective ceiling transition fabrics.

PROCEDURE
DANGER
Park vehicle safely, apply parking brake, stop engine. Prior to working on the vehicle, set the ignition
switch to the OFF position and trip the main circuit breakers equipped with a trip button. On Commuter
type vehicles, set the battery master switch (master cut-out) to the OFF position.

1. Locate ceiling center panels (item 1,
Figure 1) and ceiling transition panels
(item 2, Figure 1).

2. Locate defective ceiling transition panels
on the vehicle (Figure 2).
NOTE
See the ceiling transition fabric panel
inspection worksheets for the selection of
the defective panels and vehicles
concerned.

3. Remove cameras if necessary (Figure 3).

NOTE
Remove cameras only if they are in line
with a defective ceiling transition panel.

4. Disconnect the harness of the removed
cameras (Figure 4).

5. Remove
emergency
exit

moulding the one closest to the defective
ceiling transition panels. Remove on both
exits if necessary (Figure 5).

6. Start to remove center panels from the
emergency exit toward the center panel in
line with the defective transition panels
(Figure 6).
NOTE
Ceiling center panels are kept in place with
a J-shape moulding on both sides and with
heavy duty Velcro. To avoid making a kink
on the center panel, use a piece of wood
and with assistance carefully pry off the
panel.

7. Place the center panels carefully flat on
seats.

Proceed with step 8 to step 11 only for defective
transition panels in line with overhead
compartment equipped with a door.
8. Locate overhead compartment door air
cylinder (Figure 8).

9. Dismount the air cylinder end fixed on the
door hinge. Pull out the air cylinder head
and at the same time, with a small flat
screw driver, pry out partially the clip until
the cylinder head moves out.

10. Use a 2mm between flat Allen key and
loosen the set screw (item 1, Figure 10)
that holds the hinge pivot in place.
11. Push the hinge pivot (item 2, Figure 10)
just enough to release one door at a time.
NOTE
It is not necessary to remove hinge pivot on
both sides of a door. It is possible to
remove the door with one pivot still in
place.

Proceed with step 12 only for defective transition
panels in line with doorless overhead
compartments.

12. Remove

13. Remove overhead compartment light
(Figure 12). There are ten screws for the
long compartments and four screws for
the short compartments.
14. Carefully disconnect the light harness.

15. Remove all top screws holding the
overhead compartment ceiling panels
(item 1, Figure 13).
16. Remove
clips
on
the
overhead
compartment ceiling panel (item 2, Figure
13).

17. Locate the Pop rivets (item 1, Figure 14)
that supports the J-shape holders (item 2,
Figure 14).

18. Use a 1/8’’ diameter drilling bit and drill
out the Pop rivets (Figure 15).
19. Remove the J-shape holders.

20. If
necessary

(Figure 16).

21. Remove top screw on the pillars (Figure

22. Rip off all defective fabric parts and clean
the surfaces that will support the new
fabric parts.
23. Before gluing, install masking tape on all
visible parts around the panel the will
support the new fabric (Figure 18).

24. Make sure that you have all the precut
fabric parts you need.
25. Install the precut fabric parts on a table
ready for gluing.

Read the technical data sheet for the
directions before using the glue.
Read the safety data sheet before using
the glue.

26. Prepare for gluing with the glue and the
air spray gun.

27. Spray glue carefully on the vehicle
surfaces.

NOTE
Keep roof emergency exit and entrance
door opened to insure better ventilation
inside the vehicle.

28. Spray glue on the back of the precut
fabric parts.

29. Wait a minimum of five minutes for the
glue to dry before installing parts together.
30. Bring surfaces together and with a large
scraper, immediately apply firm pressure
over the entire surface working from the
center to the edge.

31. Remove masking tape (Figure 18).
32. Reinstall top screw on the pillars (Figure 17).
33. If necessary reinstall overhead compartment pillar finishing moulding (Figure 16).
34. Install the J-shape holder with Pop rivets
(Figure 24).

36. Reinstall all top screws holding the overhead compartment ceiling panels (item 1, Figure 13).
37. Carefully connect the light harness.

38. Reinstall overhead compartment light (Figure 12). There are ten screws for the long
compartments and four screws for the short compartments.
39. Reinstall overhead pillar finishing moulding (Figure 11).
40. Reinstall the doors and the hinge pivots (item 2, Figure 10).
41. Use a 2mm between flats Allen key and tighten the set screw (item 1, Figure 10) that holds the
hinge pivot in place.
42. Install air cylinder on the door hinge. Push in the air cylinder head and at the same time, with a
small flat screw driver, pry out partially the clip until the cylinder head moves in (Figure 9).
43. Mark the position of all Velcro strips on the roof with a masking tape on the J-shape holder.
44. Reinstall all center panels (Figure 7).
45. Locate all Velcro strips
46. Apply a firm pressure vis-à-vis the Velcro
strips. A snap sound gives the feeling that
the grip is well done (Figure 25).

47. Connect the camera harness if necessary (Figure 4).
48. Reinstall the cameras if necessary (Figure 3).
49. Reinstall the emergency exit finishing moldings (Figure 5).
50. Bulletin is complete.
