This service bulletin applies to Model Year 2006 through 2018,
Gladiator and Metro Star model Spartan Emergency Response chassis
cabs built between 1/16/2006 and 1/18/2018 equipped with an air bag
system.

CONDITION:

Change in resistance at air bag connections can cause intermittent fault
codes.

CORRECTION:

Inspect and secure connections using brackets as described.

LABOR ALLOCATION:

Thoroughly review entire service bulletin before starting work. If there are questions or

All applicable industry safety standards must be followed when performing work identified in
this procedure.
Ensure the Master and Ignition switches located in the dash are in the off
position before beginning work.

When installing brackets the connectors to the seat retractors should not
need to be disconnected. If there is a need to disconnect harnesses to gain access to seat
harnesses or connections read all applicable instructions included in the Apparatus Builders
Manual or Operations and Maintenance Manual.
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS:
NOTE: There are six brackets and six clips supplied in the kit, a typical installation will use four
brackets and four clips. The quantity supplied would cover the maximum amount of seats used
in a particular application. All connections will be yellow in color. No changes or modifications
are required with non-integrated seat connections that are hidden behind a trim panel.
1 ea. Front Driver seat belt retractor
1 ea. Front Passenger seat belt retractor
4 ea. Rear facing seat belt retractors (If equipped)
1. Locate seat belt retractor connections. There will be a total of up to six connections per cab.
Installations will vary per seat quantity and location. Refer to FIG. 2.1.

5. Attach 0427-BB1-001 clip to all connections, insert clip until audible click is heard and clip is
fully locked in place. Refer to FIG. 4.1.

NOTE: Before fastening bracket to floor move seat in the forward and rearward positions to
make sure harness is free and does not snag or bind on seat.
9. Bracket may need positioning in a more rearward direction behind seats that are
adjustable.
10. Bracket can be oriented in any direction to allow harness to be secured and free of binding.

11. Secure remaining harnesses using tie straps.
12. Some seats will require the bracket to be attached directly to the rear seat brace, as
retractor harness is too short to be fastened to floor. Refer to FIG. 8.1.
