SERVICE ACTION: OUTSIDE REAR COMBINATION
LAMP WATER INTRUSION (SA327)

This bulletin provides the procedure to replace the outside rear combination lamp pads on
some 2017MY Forte (YDm) vehicles, produced from May 23, 2016 to August 15, 2017, which
may exhibit evidence of water intrusion in the outside rear combination lamps. Follow the
procedure outlined in this bulletin to replace both left and right outside rear combination lamp
pads. Before conducting the procedure, verify that the vehicle is included in the list of affected
VINs.

 NOTICE
A Service Action is a repair program without customer notification that is performed
during the warranty period. Any dealer requesting to perform this repair outside the
warranty period will require DPSM approval.
Repair status for a VIN is provided on WebDCS (Service → Warranty Coverage →
Warranty Coverage Inquiry → Campaign Information). Not completed Recall / Service
Action reports are available on WebDCS (Consumer Affairs → Not Completed Recall
→ Recall VIN → Select Report), which includes a list of affected vehicles.

Replacement Procedure:
1. Open the trunk and carefully remove Right rear combination lamp shown in images below
cover (A).

Unplug the connector (B) by pushing
down on the lock and pulling the
connector outwards.

Remove the four (4) retaining nuts.

With the combination lamp uninstalled
from the vehicle, remove and discard the
pad (C).

Clean off any adhesive residue on the
combination lamp.

 NOTICE
If there is any moisture
remaining in the combination
lamp after removal, dry the
interior by gently blowing nonlubricated, regulated shop air
through the bulb socket (20 PSI
max). Advise the customer that
any remaining moisture will dry
out over time.

Remove the adhesive protector from the
new pad and carefully align the new pad
onto the three (3) combination lamp
guide pins.

 NOTICE
Ensure the correct left/right pad
is installed on the correct rear
combination lamp by referring
to the Required Parts table on
page 5.

Firmly press on the new pad (D) onto the
combination lamp and ensure the new
pad is completely adhered to the
combination lamp.

Reinstall the combination lamp and
torque the retaining nuts in the sequence
shown.

Tightening torque for nuts:
41.6 in.lb (4.71 N.m, 47.8 kgf.cm)

9.

Reconnect the connector and reinstall the cover.

10. Repeat steps 1-9 for the other side.
11. Confirm proper operation of the combination lamps.
