Summary
This document contains information on the Service Action Code: 19L2. The coolant pump may develop a small leak over time.
CAUTION
The drive gear bolt is a left-hand thread.
•
Using an appropriate 24mm socket and
breaker bar, hold the crankshaft
stationary.
•
Reinstall the toothed belt onto the
coolant pump pulley.
•
Reinstall the drive gear and insert the
mounting bolt, P/N: WHT001163B by
hand.
TIP
The collar on the toothed belt drive gear must
face outward, toward the transmission once
installed.
•
Tighten the bolt by turning it in the
COUNTER-CLOCKWISE direction using
the Torque wrench VAG1410 and Torque
Wrench 1331 Insert – Ring Wrench –
12mm – T10360 (or equivalent).
•
Torque the bolt to 10Nm + 90°.
•
Remove the 24mm socket and breaker
bar from the crankshaft bolt.

Reinstall the toothed belt cover and
mounting bolts.
•
Torque the mounting bolts to 9 Nm.
•
Reinstall the bonded rubber bushing for
the intake manifold support on the intake
manifold.
•
Reinstall the intake manifold support .
•
Install then tighten the nut and
mounting bolt .
•
Reconnect both electrical connectors
on the coolant pump housing.

•
Refasten the coolant hose and wiring
harness retainers .
•
Reinstall then tighten the mounting bolt
.
•
Replace the seal, P/N: WHT 006 407, on
the small coolant pipe at the coolant
pump connection.
•
Reinstall the small coolant pipe and
refasten the clamps .
•
Reinstall then tighten the coolant pipe
mounting bolts .
•
Refasten the wiring harness retainer
and secure the wiring harness.
•
Clean the Throttle Valve J338 sealing
surface with a clean shop towel and
acetone (or equivalent).
•
Insert the replacement throttle valve seal,
P/N: 06F133073D, into the intake
manifold opening .
•
Align the tab with the cut-out in
the intake manifold.
•
Position the J338 into place on the
alignment pins , and install the
mounting bolts by hand.
WARNING
Acetone is easily flammable. Observe accident
prevention measures and the safety
precautions when working with easily
flammable fluids. Do not used compressed air
when cleaning throttle valve. Always wear
protective eyewear and protective clothing to
prevent injuries and contact with skin.

NOTE
The rim of the seal must fit into the groove
provided for it inside the intake manifold.
•
Torque the J338 mounting bolts
to 5Nm.
•
Reconnect the connector at the
Throttle Valve Control Motor (J338).
•
Reinstall the mounting bracket and
retaining bolts .
•
Reinstall the connectors
into the mounting bracket.

Reinstall the air filter housing together
with the mass air flow sensor and
connecting pipe.
•
Reconnect the Secondary Air Injection
hose onto the air filter housing.
•
Reconnect the wiring harness from the
Mass Air Flow Sensor .
•
Tighten the mounting bolt .
•
Reinstall the lower air guide and lower air
guide hose.
•
Refasten the wire retainers to
secure the lower air duct.
•
Reinstall the air duct cover and refasten
the side clips .

Reinstall and tighten the mounting bolts

and fasten the clamp.

Reconnect the lower coolant hose to
the radiator.
•
Reinstall the air guide hose , and
fasten the clamps .
•
Reinstall the underbody shield.
•
Install the mounting bolts by hand.
•
Torque the mounting bolts to
2 Nm.
•
Torque the mounting bolts to 6 Nm.

Section F- Refill Cooling System
•
The Refractometer -T10007A- MUST be
used to determine the freeze protection
density .
•
Protection against frost must be adjusted
down to minimum -25 °C (-13 °F) (in arctic
climatic countries down to approximately
-36°C (-32.8 °F)). The freeze protection
may only be increased, when stronger
freeze protection is needed due to the
climate.
NOTE
Only adjust the coolant mixture to - 48°C
(-54.4°F) or higher, otherwise the cooling effect
of the coolant is impaired.
•
Fill the Cooling System Charge Kit VAS6096-Cooling System Charge Kit Reservoir -VAS6096/1- with at least 10
liters of premixed coolant with the proper
mixture ratio.
•
Install the Cooling System Tester Adapter -VAG1274/8- onto the coolant
expansion tank .
•
Disconnect the hose between the Cooling
System Charge Kit - VAS 6090 and the
VAG 1274/8.
•
Place the air outlet hose in a
separate container to catch any
residual coolant in the system.
•
Close the valves on the VAG
1274/8.
•
Connect the inlet hose to a
compressed air source.

•
Open the valve .
•
Allow the VAS 1274/8 to pull the cooling
system into a vacuum until the needle
reaches the green section on the dial
(about .9 bar).
•
Reconnect the hose between the Coolant
System Charge Kit – VAS 6090 and the
VAS 1274/8.
•
Open the valve briefly and allow the
hose from the VAS 6096 to fill with
coolant.
•
Close the valve as soon as it fills with
coolant.
•
Re-open the valve and allow air to
flow for at least 2 minutes.
•
The needle must remain in the green
section of the dial.
•
Close the valve .
•
Open the valve .
•
Allow the cooling system to fill until the
needle on the VAS6096 has reached “0”
and coolant flow into the reservoir has
stopped.
•
Disconnect the VAS 6096 from the
coolant reservoir.
•
Top off the coolant level as necessary.
•
Install the cap onto the coolant expansion
reservoir.
•
Start the engine and maintain
approximately 2,000 RPM for three
minutes.
•
Allow the engine to idle until the cooling
fans turn on.
•
Inspect the cooling system for leaks.
•
Check the coolant level and adjust as
necessary.
WARNING
The cooling system may be hot, and/or under
pressure. Use caution when opening any
cooling system.
