Introduction:
Effective November 2017, Allison Transmission, Inc. is making hardware modifications to the TC10® transmission.
The purpose of this Service Information Letter (SIL) is to highlight the gear tooth geometry modifications occurring
in November 2017 and how these hardware changes can affect the interchangeability of components when
repairing a TC10® transmission or when used in the building of Allison ReTran® Transmissions.

Parts Modifications:
All gears with the exception of the F1 Input, F1 Output, Reverse Output, and the Reverse Idler have received
updated gear geometry to increase robustness. These changes are not visible with the naked eye so verification of
the component P/N is critical.
These changes require that all mating gears both utilize the optimized gear geometry. This requires the turbine
shaft module to be replaced along with all gears on both countershaft modules (excluding the F1 output and
reverse output gears) for any gear replacement on TC10® transmissions prior to S/N 8810002367. Mismatching
current and former gear geometries could result in scuffing, pitting, and premature wear of the gear surfaces.
