Information
Certain VOLVO VN vehicles built between December, 2012 and August 2015, with Cummins
ISX engine, serial number 79864247 and less, may experience incomplete diagnostic trouble
codes (DTC) information displayed on the instrument cluster if two or more are active
simultaneously. Cummins engine ECM calibration transfer from Electronic Systems Database
and Network (ESDN) using INSITE is required to correct this issue. Refer to the INSITE User'
s Manual.
This Cummins engine calibration transfer must be performed at an authorized VOLVO
Dealership to avoid calibration download charges.
DANGER
Do not attempt to repair or service this vehicle without having sufficient training, the correct
service literature and the proper tools. Failure to follow this could make the vehicle unsafe
and lead to serious personal injury or death
1 Verify Cummins engine serial number by the engine family tag on the engine.
2 Secure the vehicle for service by parking it on a flat level surface, applying the parking
brake, chocking the rear wheels, and placing the transmission in neutral or park.
3 Connect and disconnect INSITE, as required.
4 Create INSITE Work Order images before and after calibration transfer.
5 Save programmable parameters from ECM.
6 Transfer calibration to ECM.
7 Transfer programmable parameters to ECM.
8 Confirm proper calibration transfer/verify programmable parameters.
