(October 2014)
Certain VOLVO trucks built between 07/05/2010 and 06/30/2014, equipped with a lift gate
receptacle option can experience intermittent or erratic operation of lift gate equipment.
Normal exposure to the elements caused corrosion build up at the dual pin lift gate
receptacle. To ensure proper operation of all lift gate equipment, the terminals and studs of
the dual pin lift gate receptacle will require cleaning along with an application of a corrosion
inhibitor. Additionally, a boot and cable tie will be installed at the lift gate receptacle to protect
the terminals from corrosion build up.

are not properly trained and certified in this procedure, ask your supervisor for training
before you perform it.

1 Park the vehicle on a flat and level surface.
2 Apply the parking brake.
3 Place the transmission in neutral or park.
4 Install the wheel chocks.

5 Disconnect all of the cables from the battery’s negative terminals.

10 Install boot (part number 25498777) and slide boot away from the cable end as shown.

13 Tighten the fasteners to 6.2 ± 0.6 Nm (55 ± 5 in-lb).

14 Apply a liberal amount of corrosion inhibitor (part number 21735988) to the terminals and
receptacle studs.
Note: Ensure both terminals and receptacle studs are completely coated with corrosion
inhibitor.
15 Slide the boot forward as shown.

17 Connect the lift gate positive cable to the circuit breaker located on the battery.
18 Tighten the fastener to 6 ± 1 Nm (50 ± 10 in-lb).
