9998596 Breakout Harness
FSB 080-001, 9998596 Breakout Harness

(September 2014)

Certain breakout harnesses (later version of tool number 9998596 with five pairs of

connectors) may have been assembled incorrectly during manufacturing. In some cases

there may be an open circuit or mismatch between the breakout harness pins and the

corresponding breakout box test points.

To verify that breakout box 9998699 is good, perform the following procedure.

Using a mult-meter, check for continuity between test points and pins on the back of breakout

box 9998699. Check for continuity between each of the test points on the front of the box.

Note: Perform the checks without the breakout harness connected to the rear of the breakout

box.

If continuity exists between all test points and pins, the breakout box is good.
•
If there is less than 500 kohms between adjacent test points the breakout box is bad.
If there is an open circuit or pin mismatch between each of the test points on the front of

the box, the breakout box is bad.

To verify that breakout harness 9998596 has been assembled properly, perform the following

procedure.

1 Connect breakout harness 9998596 to a known good breakout box 9998699. Install

overlay 85105675.

2 Use a multi-meter to check for continuity between all the test points on the overlay and the

corresponding pins on all five pairs of connectors. The overlay is color coordinated to

match the connector colors. Test point location “1” on the overlay corresponds with pin “1”

on the same color connectors..
