Changing Outside Rearview Mirrors

Attention: Any changes or modifications to the vehicle should be first reviewed with the
customer, and then noted on the repair order with customer approval. This is for
customer satisfaction; this is not a warranty procedure.

Condition/Concern
Some customers may request to have a different style mirror installed on their vehicle or request a different mirror
before they purchase the vehicle. The new electrical architecture for the Silverado and Sierra has made swapping
mirrors a more involved procedure than with previous models.

Recommendation/Instructions
DL3
– Mirrors, outside chrome cap, heated power-adjustable, power-folding and driver-side auto-dimming, with
integrated turn signal indicators and puddle lamps (includes driver's side spotter mirror)
DL8
– Mirrors, outside heated power-adjustable (includes driver's side spotter mirror)

When swapping to the trailer tow mirrors, the first thing to know is the installation of the trailer tow mirrors may
require the technician to add an additional mounting hole to the door (See the chart below). Non-trailing mirrors only
require 3 mounting holes. Trailer tow mirrors require 4 mounting holes.
Secondly, the side mirror switch may need to be replaced for trucks built with RPO DL3. See the chart below. This
eliminates the power fold button.

Note: If upgrading from DE2 (Mirrors, outside manual, Black) to DF2 (Mirrors, outside high-visibility vertical
camper-style, Black with manual folding and extension and lower convex spotter glass) will only require drilling of the
fourth hole (2). See the picture below.

RPO DL3, DL8 to DPN (1500 Series)
DPN/DL8 to DL3:
1. Remove the front side door window garnish molding. Refer to Front Side Door Window Garnish Molding
Replacement in SI.
2. Remove the outside rearview mirror nuts, disconnect electrical and remove the mirror.
3. If necessary, drill out the fourth hole (see chart above).
4. Install the new mirror, mirror nuts and connect the electrical.
5. Install the new switch to the bezel.
6. Install the front side door window garnish molding. Refer to Front Side Door Window Garnish Molding
Replacement in SI.
Note: Trailer Tow Finish is Black only - see below for TT Finish P/Ns.
