Installation process:
Note
◆ The Genuine High universal mobile phone integration retrofit kit must be installed by a competent
workshop. Special tools are needed for the installation as well as detailed, vehicle-specific manuals.
Incorrect fitting may lead to damage to the vehicle.
◆ After completing the installation work, the car must be encoded for operation with the High universal
mobile phone integration using a vehicle diagnosis, measurement and information system.

1.1

Installation overview

The figure opposite shows the fitting location and the routing of
the wiring.

● The wiring harnesses -4- and -5- must also be routed so
that the airbags are not restricted in their function.

Connect the 3-button module wiring harness

Note
For reasons of clarity, wiring already connected is not illustrated
in the figure below.
 Disengage both locking mechanisms -arrow A- and press the
contact strip out of the connector housing using a suitable tool
-arrow B-.

cable set") to the contact strip according to the following table.

Preparing the vehicle for fitting the components

 Disconnect battery.
 ELSA; repair group 27
 Removing the radio / navigation system.
 ELSA; repair group 91
 Remove the shelf on the passenger side,

sill rail, trims of the
A-pillar on the passenger side and sun blinds.
 ELSA; Interior bodywork fitting
 Push the connecting plug of the wiring harness supplied from
the inner sill on the passenger side under the floor covering
along to the passenger seat (see next fig.).

Connecting the telephone control unit

Push the telephone control unit -2- supplied in the kit onto the
module carrier -3-.
 Connect the multiway connector -1- of the wiring harness to the
telephone control unit -2-.
 Route the wiring harness to the radio / navigation system
according to the installation overview.


Preparing the light console

 Remove the light console of the
 ELSA; Interior bodywork fitting

vehicle.

Continue with the new light console (not supplied in the kit, order
separately; see also section "Accessories").
 Remove the cover (not displayed) from the fitting opening of
the microphone -1-.
 Clip the microphone -1- supplied in the kit into the light console
of the vehicle.
 Insert the multi-pin connector of the light console adapter cable
-3- (not supplied in the kit, order separately; see also section
"Accessories - 3 BM cable set") to the connection of the light
console and lock in place.

Replace the existing trim of the light console with the trim for the
3-button module.
 Clip the 3-button module -1- in the trim of the light console
-arrows-.


Routing and connecting the cables from the
telephone control unit to the light console

Route the microphone connecting cable and 3-button module
wiring harness along the A-pillar and inside the roof lining to
the light console (see installation overview, page 2).
 Fix the connecting cable to the existing cables or brackets of
the vehicle using cable ties supplied in the kit.




Connect the plug connection of the wiring harness to
the socket -2- of the 3-button module.

Connect the plug connection of the microphone -1- to the
socket -2- of the conencting cable.
 To prevent rattling noises, wrap the plug connection with the
foam supplied.
 Connect the connector for the light console adapter cable -3on the vehicle wiring harness.


Connection of the wiring harness to the radio
connector plug of the vehicle
Note

For reasons of clarity, wiring already connected is not illustrated
in the figures below.
 Pull the locking pin -2- out of the radio plug connector -1-.
 Press the cables out of the chambers of the radio plug
connector and push the contacts into the 4-pin flat contact
housing supplied in the kit according to the table. Tick-off the
completed changes in the table column "Completed".



plug connector according to the following table. Tick-off the
completed changes in the table column "Completed".

Insert the locking pin into the radio connection plug.
Push the 4 pin plug into the corresponding socket of the wiring
harness.




Unlock the green flat contact housing -arrow A- supplied in the
kit and then pull out -arrow B- the bay contact housing -1-.
 Push the single wires of the wiring harness into bay contact
housing -1- according to the following table. Tick-off the
completed changes in the table column "Completed".

 Install the radio / radio navigation system.

Encoding the telephone control unit

 Connect the vehicle diagnosis, measurement and information system.
 ELSA; repair group 97
 Select the "Guided Fault Finding" mode in the vehicle diagnostics, measurement

and information
system.
 After querying the control units, select the "Functions/component selection" via the "Jump" button and
then sequentially the following menu options:
◆ Software version management
◆ Retrofit actions
 Enter the 5-character action code "38324" and confirm.
After the confirming the code, the online connection is created and the software update carried out.
 After successful software updating, disconnect the connection to the vehicle diagnostics, measurement
and information system and carry out operational testing of the High universal mobile phone integration.
 Operating instructions supplied
These installation instructions are to be filled in with the chassis number and fitting date by the workshop,
signed and stamped and then given to the customer when the vehicle is handed over.
