Volkswagen Group of America is pleased to inform you of the release and automatic delivery of required
special tools used to perform repairs on multiple Volkswagen vehicles and vehicles with the 1.4L TSI
engine. Details on the following topics will be covered in this circular.

1. Auto Shipment – Details regarding new minimum required tools.
2. Rental Program – Details regarding newly added tooling.
Starting January 25, 2016, every Volkswagen dealer will be shipped one AT-382 Special Tool Package,
Freight F.O.B. Snap-On OEM and invoiced directly by the Volkswagen Special Tools Program (Snap-On
Business Solutions - SBS).
For dealers that wish to order additional AT-382 Special Tool Packages, please notify the Volkswagen
Tools and Equipment program by contacting us at (800) 892-9650.
Additional orders will be filled in the order they are received after the automatic distribution has taken
place.

T10478/1A - Thrust Piece - Camshaft
Used for installing the camshaft oil seal on the 1.4L TSI
engine.
NOTE: T10478/1 is replaced by special tool T10478/1A.
Due to a mechanical design change T10478/1 should no
longer be used and should be disposed of.

current requirement standard of T10478B.

T10554 – Camshaft Counterhold
Used in conjunction with the T10172 when holding the
camshaft adjuster.

VAS531001 - Release Tool
Used to release the new style pre-tensioned spring-type
clips on coolant hoses. Use of this tool greatly saves time
and reduces potential damage in tight spaces.

The Volkswagen Special Tools & Equipment Program is happy to announce the addition of two recently
released tools to the Tool Rental Program. As an alternative to auto-shipment the tools listed below can be
rented on an as needed basis.

VAS631001 - Wiring Harness Repair Set - Aluminum
This wiring harness repair kit is used to repair damaged
aluminum wires used on some recent group vehicles.
Copper wires with pre-crimped butt connector included in
this repair kit are used to complete repair. Included are
three different sizes for making repairs, 2.5mm², 4mm², and
6mm²

VAS631003 - Wiring Harness Repair Set – Copper
This wiring harness repair kit is used to repair damaged
large gauge cables found in the vehicle electrical system.
Wires with pre-crimped butt connector included in this
repair kit are used to complete repair. Included are two
different sizes for making repairs, 10mm2 and 16mm2.
