ELECTRICAL HARNESS REPAIR INFORMATION

SERVICE INFORMATION
Warranty claims coding for repairing wiring harnesses for all Infiniti vehicles has changed. This bulletin gives
an outline of the retailer technician’s responsibilities in assisting the retailer claims administrator to properly
code a harness repair. Failure to provide correct information may result in claims suspension or rejection.
Refer to the following pages for technician responsibilities related to harness repair warranty claims.

Infiniti Bulletins are intended for use by qualified technicians, not 'do-it-yourselfers'. Qualified technicians are properly
trained individuals who have the equipment, tools, safety instruction, and know-how to do a job properly and safely.

Required Technician Information for Warranty Harness Repair
The technician is to record the necessary information on the repair order for the claims administrator to
complete claims coding.
The claims administrator will need the following information to complete the repair order’s warranty claims
coding. The technician will need to fill out or attach the following to the repair order as it applies:
1. Print a general vehicle harness layout from the Electronic Wiring Diagram (EWD). Circle or highlight the
wiring harness being replaced or repaired. See print-out example on page 5.


If the repair is connector related, also print the connector’s information from the EWD of the connector,
and then highlight the specific circuit/terminal repaired. See print-out example on page 5.

2. Operation (Op) Code: Op Codes are now specific to each individual wiring harness (see page 6). Write
down the name of the replaced/repaired wiring harness on the repair order (for example, “Body Harness”).


If replacement/repair is related to a sub-harness, use the name of the harness it is attached to. For
example, if the sub-harness is attached to the EGI harness, write down “EGI Harness”.

3. Primary Failed Part (PFP): This is the part number (P/N) of the replaced/repaired wiring harness. Write
down the P/N on the repair order.
4. Diagnosis Code: This describes the type of problem that was found. Give an accurate description for the
warranty clerk to determine the diagnosis code. See example chart on page 6.
5. Include pictures for each diagnosis related description per attachment.
6. Enter critical repair information in the “Tech Comment Verbatim” line. For example:


Location of failure if wire related



Type of wire failure (open/shorted/pinched/chafed/bent or spread pin/etc.)



Connector number



Wire number and color



Terminal pin number

7. Detailed information from the technician for any warranty repair is still required. Some examples of currently
required technician supplied information are, but not limited to:


Writing on the repair order an accurate description of the incident, the cause of the incident, and what
repaired the incident.



Include any necessary print-outs from CONSULT-III plus (C-III plus), the Electronic Service Manual
(ESM), Electronic Wiring Diagram (EWD), etc., as the repair requires.



Stamp sufficient clock “punch in” and “punch out” time on the back of the repair order.



Obtaining warranty pre-authorization and filling out a pre-call form as required:
 A warranty pre-authorization and pre-call form are required when the DCAL (Dealer Claims
Approval Limit) is exceeded.
 These forms must be filled out and submitted prior to contacting the warranty call center.
