Prevost vehicles
DESCRIPTION
On the vehicles affected by this bulletin, replace the EGR venturi tube on the D13 engine by an improved
version.

PROCEDURE

DANGER
Park vehicle safely, apply parking brake, stop engine. Prior to working on the vehicle, set the ignition
switch to the OFF position and trip the main circuit breakers equipped with a trip button. On Commuter
type vehicles, set the battery master switch (master cut-out) to the OFF position. In addition, place the
starter selector switch to the "OFF" position.

On the hot side of the engine, locate the
venturi tube on outlet side of EGR cooler.

You must read and understand the precautions and guidelines in IMPACT, Service Information,
group 20, "General Safety Practices, Engine" before performing this procedure. If you are not properly
trained and certified in this procedure, ask your supervisor for training before you perform it.

Removal
1. Disconnect the wiring harness lead from
the
differential
pressure
sensor
connector.
2. Sensor is located along venturi tube,
below thermostat housing piping elbow.
3. Pull on the yellow tab to release the
connector.

4. Loosen and remove the V-clamps at the
top and bottom ends of the venturi tube.
Make sure they are not damaged and
reserve for re-use.
5. Only if damaged, replace by 20504408.

6. Remove the 4 fasteners securing the
venturi tube to the mounting bracket.
Remove wrap, if necessary. Make sure
fasteners are not damaged and reserve
for re-use.
7. Only if damaged, replace by 946671.
8. Remove the venturi tube now that it is
loose from the engine.

9. Remove pressure sensor from removed
tube.
10. Install existing pressure sensor on new
venturi tube.
Note: Refer to Function Group 293 in
IMPACT, identity 132806267 for removal
and installation of sensor. Install new sealing
rings 85143714 and torque the fasteners to
specification. Apply a torque seal stripe.

Installation
1. Inspect new venturi tube for any damage
to the coating.

2. If reusing original wrap, remove old cable
ties and install new.
Lay venturi wrap on a flat surface with the
middle cable tie facing up. Align the
replacement venturi mounting bosses
with the appropriate holes in the wrap.

3. Secure middle cable tie around venturi
tube. Cut off excess.
4. Pull wrap around venturi tube and push
hose clamp through holes in wrap
5. Lubricate and install a new O-ring
967343 on each side of the venturi tube.
6. Ensure venturi tube mounting bosses are
still accessible through the holes in the
wrap.
7. Clean
the
installation.

8. Position the venturi tube on the mounting
bracket. Verify O-ring seals are in place
and did not fall out during installation.

9. Install the 4 fasteners reserved earlier
securing the venturi tube to the mounting
bracket.
If damaged, replace by 946671.
Tighten the fasteners to:
18 ± 3 ft-lb (24 Nm ± 4 Nm)

Apply a torque seal stripe.

10. Check that the O-ring is properly positioned
on the venturi tube.
Ensure both ends of the remaining external
cable tie are accessible when the venturi is
installed.
Install reserved V clamps connecting the
venturi tube to the crossover piping.

If damaged, replace by 20504408.
Tighten the clamps to:
14.75 ± 3 ft-lb (20 Nm ± 4 Nm).

Apply a torque seal stripe.
Note. After reaching the specified torque,
inspect the V-clamp to make sure that no
portion of the clamp has "bottomed out".

11. Secure venturi tube wrap remaining external cable tie. Install additional cable tie around venturi tube wrap.
Attach venturi wrap velcro.
12. Connect the wiring harness lead to the pressure differential sensor terminal.
13. Set the battery master switch (master cut-out) to the ON position. Also place the starter selector switch to
the "ON" position.
14. Due to the engine control module (ECM) self-learning capability, it is necessary to reset learned ECM
parameters after servicing some engine related components. This allows the ECM to learn the new
components behavior. After servicing is complete, perform the “Learned Data Reset” operation number
1700-08-03-32 using the tech tool.
