COOLANT LEVEL SENSOR REPLACEMENT

Prevost vehicles
DESCRIPTION
On the vehicles affected by this bulletin, coolant may leak by the coolant level sensor wires on the surge
tank. Replace the sensor with an improved version.

This bulletin does not necessarily apply to all the above-mentioned vehicles, some vehicles may have been modified
before delivery. The owners of the vehicles affected by this bulletin will be advised by a letter indicating the Vehicle

PROCEDURE

DANGER
Park vehicle safely, apply parking brake, stop engine. Prior to working on the vehicle, set the ignition
switch to the OFF position and trip the main circuit breakers equipped with a trip button. On Commuter
type vehicles, set the battery master switch (master cut-out) to the OFF position.

WARNING
Before undergoing work, make sure the coolant fluid has cooled down. The sudden release of pressure
from a heated cooling system can result in loss of coolant and possible personal injury (scalding) from
the hot liquid.

Relieve cooling system pressure by depressing the pressure relief valve button, left of the surge
tank.(Fig. 1)

2)

Heed the safety warning above.

3)

Lower the coolant level in the surge tank to allow removal of the level sensors. Collect coolant in
an appropriate container. Reserve.

4)

Prior to removal, note in detail wire routing and cable tie positions on the cable management
bracket. Cut the cable ties.

5)

Remove the coolant sensors (“Critical” and “Low”).(Fig. 1)

6)

New sensors are identified by a dimple on
the hexagonal section head. (Fig. 2)

7)

Install the new sensors with #680098 liquid
sealant.

8)

Install with arrow pointing up.
between 2 and 4 threads. (Fig. 3)

9)

Route sensor wires to replicate the same
arrangement as noted earlier.

10)

Secure with cable ties in the same positions
as noted earlier.

11)

Pump previously reserved coolant back in
surge tank.

12)

Start engine and bring to operating
temperature. Re-check coolant level and
adjust as required.
