TECH TIP
Monitoring, Saving and Viewing Data with DX2
Condition:
To better assist with diagnostics of unusual and/or intermittent performance conditions, the dealer
technician may be requested to record operating data using the Hino DX 2 Data Monitor function. The
data will be automatically saved and can be reviewed using the DX2 software.
Relevant Models:
2005 to Present Conventional and COE Models

Recording Data

1. Open the DX2 program,
select Diagnosis and the
correct truck series.
2. Pick the appropriate module
by placing a check mark in
the corresponding box next
to the module or select all
modules by checking the
Device Classification box.

3. Select “Read Out”.

4. On the left side of the
screen select the desired
module; click the “Data
Monitor and Active Test”
tab.
5. Select the “Data Monitor
Setting” button to bring up
the list or available
parameters.

6. Select the desired
parameters from the list on
the left, double click or use
the > button to move the
parameters to the right side
of the screen. Select the
“OK” button once
completed.

7. All selected parameters will
show up in Numerical form
on the left and graph form
on the right. Select “Start”
to begin recording data.

8. A pop up window will come
up indicating the location
the file will be saved to and
the file name;
DATA_VIN#_DATE_TIME.
Select “OK”

9. The Data will start
recording until the Stop
button is pressed.

Viewing Saved Data Files with DX2

1. To read previously
saved data
recordings with the
DX2, select “file”
from the main menu,
“Special Working”
and finally “Read
Compare Data”.

TECH TIP
2. The saved data file explorer
window will open, select the
file desired. Files are named
DATA_VIN_DATE_TIME, to
simplify locating the
recording.

3. The selected recording will open
in numerical and graph form.
The slider bar below the graph
can be used to advance the
recorded data.

4. The percentage slider
below the graph will
change how the data is
viewed. Moving the slider
to 0% will “zoom out” and
make the whole recording
visible. 100% (which is the
default) and higher will
zoom into the recording
and will increase the
resolution seen.

TECH TIP
5. The “Display Changeover” button
will combine the graph view from
individual graphs to 1 graph with
all parameters.

6. Individual parameters can be
removed from the view by
deselecting the checkbox to the
left of the parameter.
Parameters can be selected and
deselected at any time. If a
timestamp was placed during
the recording it will be viewed on
the graph as a red tick mark.
