HELP USING THE wiTECH DIAGNOSTIC APPLICATION FOR FLASHING AN ECU IS
AVAILABLE BY SELECTING “HELP” THEN “HELP CONTENTS” AT THE TOP OF
THE wiTECH DIAGNOSTIC APPLICATION WINDOW.
THE wiTECH SOFTWARE IS REQUIRED TO BE AT THE LATEST RELEASE BEFORE
PERFORMING THIS PROCEDURE.
SUBJECT:
Dimmer Switch Backlighting Inoperative
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves the relocation of the backlight dimmer circuit at the dimmer switch
connector; and the installation of the rear A/C heater prep circuit to the dimmer switch
connector on the instrument panel and Body Control Module (BCM) C7 connector.

Preparation (Sales Code HDG).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may describe the backlighting of the dimmer switch is inoperative.
DIAGNOSIS:
If the customer describes the symptom/condition listed above, perform the Repair
Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Remove the BCM in accordance with Service Information. Refer to the detailed service
procedures available in DealerCONNECT> TechCONNECT under: Service Info
Section 08 - Electrical/8E - Electronic Control Modules/MODULE, Body
Control/Removal.
2. Identify the BCM C7 location and connector as shown in (Fig. 1).

3. Cut the fastener clip (tie strap), then remove the gray connector cover from the BCM
C7 connector.

-34. Verify cavity 15 in the BCM C7 connector is empty as shown in (Fig. 2).

5. Remove the instrument panel bin shown in (Fig. 3).

6. Reach up behind the dimmer switch and disconnect the dimmer switch connector as
shown in (Fig. 4).

7. Cut the fastener clip (tie strap), then remove the brown connector cover from the
dimmer switch connector.
8. With the A/C and heater jumper wiring (part # 68304145AA), measure and identify with
a marker 6 inches from each terminal end as shown in (Fig. 5).

9. Tape the A/C and heater jumper wiring with the high abrasion tape as shown in (Fig.
6) between the marks made in the previous step.

10. Install the A/C and heater jumper wiring terminal end into cavity 15 of the BCM C7
connector.
11. Tape the A/C and heater jumper wiring with the high abrasion tape to the instrument
panel harness at the BCM connector side as shown in (Fig. 7).

12. Route the A/C and heater jumper wiring along the instrument panel harness up and
behind the instrument panel brace from the BCM C7 connector up to the dimmer
switch connector as shown in (Fig. 8).

13. Identify cavity 1 as shown in (Fig. 9) and then remove the E3 YL/GY Panel Lamps
dimmer switch Mux circuit terminal in cavity 1 of the dimmer switch connector using
the 10300 Terminal Remover kit.

14. Verify cavity 3 in the dimmer switch connector is empty as shown in (Fig. 10).

15. Install the E3 YL/GY Panel Lamps dimmer switch Mux circuit into cavity 3 of the
dimmer switch connector as shown in (Fig. 11).

16. Install the A/C and heater jumper wiring terminal end (identifiable with white tape) into
cavity 1 of the dimmer switch connector as shown in (Fig. 12).

17. Tape the A/C and heater jumper wiring with the high abrasion tape to the instrument
panel harness at the dimmer switch connector side as shown in (Fig. 13).

18. Install the dimmer switch connector into the brown connector cover and use the
06106188AA fastener clip to secure the harness to the dimmer switch connector cover
as shown in (Fig. 14).

19. Install the BCM C7 connector into the gray connector cover and use the 06106188AA
fastener clip to secure the harness to the BCM connector cover as shown in (Fig. 15).

20. Connect the dimmer switch connector to the dimmer switch.
21. Install the Body Control Module (BCM) in accordance with Service Information. Refer
to the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT> TechCONNECT
under: Service Info Section 08 - Electrical/8E - Electronic Control Modules/MODULE,
Body Control/Installation.
22. Verify the repair by confirming the illumination of the dimmer switch backlighting.
