GENERAL INFORMATION
The Detroit™ special tool group has released an essential tool kit to replace the high pressure
fuel pump oil seal.
NOTE: The high pressure fuel pump fuel seal is located behind the high pressure fuel pump oil
seal. The high pressure fuel pump fuel seal is a non-serviceable part. If the high pressure fuel
pump fuel seal is disturbed or damaged in any way, the high pressure fuel pump must be
replaced.
The illustration below shows the location of high pressure fuel pump oil seal (1) on the high
pressure fuel pump.

This tool kit will be automatically shipped and invoiced to your facility during the month of
October. Locations that are NOT EPA07, EPA10 or GHG14 DD certified in SSI, will need to
order the tools through the Paragon system.
The high pressure fuel pump camshaft oil seal kit, W470589055900, has all the necessary tools
to replace the high pressure fuel pump camshaft oil seal on DD platform engines. This kit
includes, camshaft oil seal installer W470589055901, camshaft oil seal sleeve W470589055902,
camshaft oil seal remover W470589055903.
The camshaft oil seal installer W470589055901, allows the technician to press the new camshaft
oil seal to the correct depth on the high pressure fuel pump. This tool is used in conjunction with
a dead blow hammer.
The camshaft oil seal sleeve W470589055902, allows the technician to slide the new camshaft
oil seal over the camshaft keyed area without damaging the new seal.

The Camshaft oil seal remover, W470589055903, allows the technician to remove the old
camshaft seal from the high pressure fuel pump by attaching to the inside diameter of the old seal
and pulling the seal from its sealing area on the high pressure fuel pump.
TOOL USAGE INSTRUCTIONS
Follow the detailed instructions (18SP706) provided with the new camshaft oil seal on how to
use tool kit W470589055900.

Ordering Information - Tools will be automatically shipped and invoiced to your facility during the
month of February. Locations that are NOT EPA07, EPA10 or GHG14 DD certified in SSI, will
need to order the tools through the Paragon system. Tools can be ordered through Paragon
using a DDE supplier prefix.
