This repair is the same as Service Action SA-15-0293. Use this Quarantine Notice for vehicles that
are not registered and have not been given to a Customer.
Some vehicles in the affected VIN list for this Quarantine may now be registered and given to a
Customer. Make sure that you do a check of the Online Dealer Warranty (ODW) database to make
sure that all necessary work is done to every vehicle.

Reason for this Quarantine Notice
Some DB11 vehicles do not have the correct Software Calibration Number (SCN) coding for the Head Unit (HU) of the
vehicle’s infotainment system. This means that these vehicles do not display the Traffic Management Channel (TMC)
information. You must do the procedure that follows to update the SCN coding for the Head Unit on all applicable
vehicles.

Workshop Procedure
Before you do the workshop procedure, do steps 1 thru 3. Make sure that you obey the cautions that follow during the
procedure.
CAUTIONS:

CONNECT THE AMDS 2.0 EQUIPMENT TO AN ELECTRICAL SUPPLY WHEN YOU DO THE
PROCEDURE THAT FOLLOWS. IF THE LAPTOP BATTERY VOLTAGE DECREASES DURING THE
SOFTWARE UPDATE, THE UPDATE CAN FAIL AND CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE MODULE.
YOU MUST CONNECT A BATTERY CHARGER TO THE VEHICLE BEFORE YOU DO DIAGNOSTIC
PROCEDURES. IF THE VEHICLE BATTERY VOLTAGE DECREASES DURING THE PROCEDURE, THE
SOFTWARE UPDATE CAN FAIL AND CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE MODULE.

Notes:

Make sure that the AMDS 2.0 software has updated to the latest version. You must have Version
1.0.0.51 or later. The AMDS 2.0 software will need a good Internet connection (minimum
broadband speed of 2 Mbit/second) to make sure that the software is updated correctly.
A high output battery charger (minimum of 80 A) is necessary to meet the demand of the radiator
cooling fan. The battery charger must also be compatible with Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) type
batteries.

1.

Remove the armrest (standard armrest). Open the armrest to position “1” (powered armrest).

2.

Remove the end cap from the vehicle key. Install the vehicle key in the Electronic Ignition Switch (EIS).

3.

Turn the vehicle key clockwise to set the ignition to “On”.

CAUTION:

MAKE SURE THAT THE IGNITION STAYS SET TO “ON” DURING THE FULL PROCEDURE.
IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS, THE POWER SUPPLY TO SOME COMPONENTS OF THE VEHICLE’S
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM CAN SHUT DOWN.
IF THE SYSTEM VOLTAGE DECREASES DURING THE PROCEDURE, THE SOFTWARE UPDATE CAN
FAIL AND CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SYSTEM.

Note:

Remember that the “Start” button is disabled if the vehicle key is used to start the engine.

4.

Download the Software Calibration Number (SCN) coding file “SA-15-0293_AU07_TPD1.csv” from the DCS
portal. Save the file to the Desktop of the AMDS 2.0 laptop to be used for this procedure.

5.

Connect the AMDS 2.0 equipment to the vehicle. Make sure that the laptop is connected to an electrical supply
during the procedure.

6.

When the AMDS 2.0 software has identified the vehicle’s VIN, navigate to the home page of AMDS 2.0.

7.

Select “Read/Write” from the “ECU Coding” dropdown list (refer to Figure 1).

Select “HU” from the list of available modules and
click “OK” (refer to Figure 2).

Select “Load Coding File From Disc” (refer to
Figure 3).

A browser window will now open. Select the SCN coding file “SA-15-0293_AU07_TPD1.csv” from the Desktop
and click “OK”.

11.

If the correct file is loaded, you will see a “Success”
pop-up. Click “OK” (refer to Figure 4).

Click “Save Coding to ECU(s)” to save the new SCN
coding to the HU module (refer to Figure 5).
Note: Do a check of the highlighted digit (refer to
Figure 5) to make sure that the new code is correct.
For the initial code the digit will be “0”. For the
updated code, the digit will be “4”.

13.

When the procedure is completed, set the ignition to “Off”.

14.

Remove the vehicle key and install the key cap.

15.

Install or close, as applicable, the armrest.

16.

Disconnect the AMDS 2.0 equipment and the battery charger.
