Good Mechanics safety practice must be followed on any repairs.
Safety practices should include but not be limited to properly supporting the chassis, axles, blocking tires, and a work area free of clutter.
Complaint: Restricted Shock Compression with new Upper Shock Mount Location (AR839)
Cause: New location of upper shock bracket completed in AR839 (if completed previously)
Correction: Remove both existing lower shock brackets and replace
Pre‐Requisite: AR839
Vehicles Affected: All Spirit of Mobility (SOM) Units with Reyco Granning Rear Suspension
Labor Operation Code: 0116802
ARBOC Work Orders Provided for Affected Units
Labor Time Allowance: 1 hours per unit

Parts Required
Qty 2 1310637 Bracket, Lower Shock Mount Reyco Retrofit
NAPA Rubberized Undercoating (not supplied)

Repair Instructions:
Step 1: Pull unit onto hoist, chock front tires to prevent bus from rolling forward or backwards.
Step 2: Disconnect positive (red lead) battery cable from the chassis and auxiliary battery.
Step 3: Raise unit to a comfortable working height.
Step 4: Remove Fasteners from Lower Shocks to swing components out of way
Step 5: Unbolt/Remove Sway Bar Bracket from both sides of vehicle (keep for reinstallation)

Step 6: Remove/Discard Lower Shock Mount

Step 7: Cut/Remove steel material from OEM Shock (red shaded area below)

Step 8: Install Retrofit Shock Bracket (1310637) between the OEM Bracket and Sway Bar Brackets using Sway Bar Mounting Bolts removed
previously (60 FT‐LBS)
Step 9: Swing Shock back into place and re‐install fasteners for Lower Shocks (Torque = 140‐150 FT‐LBS)
Step 10: Weld (1/4 inch) Retrofit Shock Mount to OEM Shock Mount

Step 9: Using a high quality Rubberized Undercoat, paint repaired area. NAPA Rubberized Undercoating or Mac's 8400 Rubberized undercoat (not supplied).
Step 11: Lower unit and connect positive (red lead) battery cable to the chassis and auxilliary battery.
Step 12: Remove from hoist
