• MIL on.
• DTC P045600 (EVAP System Leak Detected NVLD (very small leak)) is stored in the engine control module
(ECM), J623 (address word 01).
• Drivability is not affected.

Technical Background
Various parts have been replaced under warranty for the condition noted above, but no issues were identified with
these parts. In an effort to gain information, we are asking that you contact the Audi Technical Assistance Center
(TAC) before replacing any parts. This will assist us in diagnosing any potential issues with the condition noted
above.

Production Solution
No changes to production have been made, as no issue has been identified.

Service
Audi of America is requesting your cooperation in supplying us with technical information regarding this condition.
1. Ensure that the gas cap was tight.
2. Verify that the DTC is present.
3. Perform following initial test:
a. Calibrate tester KLI9210 to 0.02 inch port with 14 inch/water as described on tester. Set marker to this
position and take a picture.
b. Block off the filter port on NVLD sensor.
c. Connect the tester to vehicle and pressurize the system (3-5 minutes):
- If float is floating, take a picture and attach it to the TAC contact.
- If float is at the bottom, perform new calibration to 0.02 inch port with 28 inch/water. Set marker to new
positon and take picture.

d. Reconnect to vehicle and pressurize system (3-5 minutes):
- If float is floating, take a picture and attach it to the TAC contact.
- If float is at the bottom, turn the knob on the tester to “Hold” and record the amount of time (minutes,
seconds) it takes the pressure to drop from 28 inch/water to 20 inch/water.
4. Contact a TAC consultant with results.
