THE VEHICLE WILL BE PROGRAMMED WITH THE PIWIS TESTER. IT IS CRITICAL THAT THE VEHICLE
VOLTAGE BE BETWEEN 13.5 VOLTS AND 14.5 VOLTS DURING THIS PROGRAMMING. OTHERWISE, THE
PROGRAMMING COULD FAIL RESULTING IN DAMAGED CONTROL UNITS. CONTROL UNITS DAMAGED BY
INADEQUATE VOLTAGE WILL NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE TECHNICIAN MUST VERIFY THE
ACTUAL VEHICLE VOLTAGE IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OR IN THE PIWIS TESTER BEFORE STARTING
THE CAMPAIGN AND ALSO DOCUMENT THE ACTUAL VOLTAGE ON THE REPAIR ORDER. IT IS ALSO
ADVISABLE TO MONITOR THE VEHICLE VOLTAGE DURING THE PROGRAMMING VIA THE INSTRUMENT

Connect a battery charger or power supply, suitable for AGM type batteries, recommended current
rating of 70A fixed voltage 13.5V to 14.5V to the jump-start terminals in the engine compartment.

Switch on the ignition using the original driver's key.
To do this, replace the control panel in the ignition lock with the original driver's key if necessary.

9818 - PIWIS Tester II must be connected to the vehicle communication module (VCI) via the USB
cable. Then, connect the communication module to the vehicle and switch on the PIWIS Tester.

On the PIWIS Tester start screen, call up the 'Diagnostics' menu and select the vehicle type
'Macan'.
The diagnostic application is then started and the control unit selection screen is populated.

Replace the old trailer hitch control unit with a new trailer hitch control unit, Porsche Part No.
4H0.907.383.N. Workshop Manual '669619 Removing and installing trailer hitch control unit' and
Workshop Manual '669655 Replacing trailer hitch control unit'.

Enter the workshop campaign in the Warranty and Maintenance booklet.

Replacement of the trailer hitch control unit must be invoiced using a separate warranty claim
containing the following details:

NOTICE
Fault entry in the fault memory and control unit programming aborted due to low voltage.

Increased current draw during diagnosis or control unit programming can cause a drop in voltage, which
can result in one or more fault entries and the abnormal termination of the programming process.
Before starting control unit programming, connect a battery charger or power supply, suitable for AGM
type batteries, recommended current rating of 70A fixed voltage 13.5V to 14.5V.
NOTICE
Control unit programming will be aborted if the Internet connection is unstable.

An unstable Internet connection can interrupt communication between PIWIS Tester II and the vehicle
communication module (VCI). As a result, control unit programming may be aborted.
During control unit programming, always connect PIWIS Tester II to the vehicle communication module
(VCI) via the USB cable.
NOTICE
Control unit programming will be aborted if the vehicle key is not recognized
•
If the vehicle key is not recognized in vehicles with Porsche Entry & Drive, programming cannot be started
or will be interrupted.
Switch on the ignition using the original vehicle key. To do this, replace the original vehicle key in the
ignition lock with the plastic key fob if it was previously removed at the start of this procedure.

During the programming sequence, the trailer
hitch control unit is re-programmed and then
re-codedautomatically.

Do not interrupt programming and coding.

Procedure if control unit programming
cannot be carried out:
Following control unit programming, the software
version can be read out of the 'Trailer hitch' control
unit in the 'Extended identification' menu using
the PIWIS Tester.
Read out the fault memory.
If active fault memory entries that cannot be deleted
are stored in the 'Trailer hitch' control unit, these
faults must first be found and corrected.
This work cannot be invoiced under the workshop
campaign number.
Once existing faults have been corrected and the
fault memory has been erased, restart control unit
programming.

When programming is complete, the fault code C10E454 – Electric swivel unit, incorrect basic
setting will be stored in the fault memory of the 'Trailer hitch' control unit.
To delete this fault memory entry, first initialise the trailer hitch control unit as described below.

When extending and retracting the trailer hitch, parts of the body can get in between the moving trailer
hitch and fixed parts of the vehicle and become trapped or squashed.

Start the routine for initializing the trailer hitch
control unit by pressing •F8“.
Information
During the routine, the trailer hitch is
extended and then retracted again fully once.
Initialization of trailer control unit
During initialization, the indicator lights on the
buttons for extending and retracting the trailer hitch at the right of the luggage compartment
start flashing. Once the routine has finished and the trailer hitch is fully retracted again, the
indicator light on the button for retracting the trailer hitch in the luggage compartment stays
on.
If the routine is interrupted after extending the trailer hitch, the routine must be started
again by pressing •F8“ so that the trailer hitch is retracted again. In some cases, it may be
necessary to restart the routine several times in order to retract the trailer hitch again.
The routine ends automatically once the trailer hitch is retracted fully again.

confirm Erasing fault memories.
The fault memories of the control units are
read out.
