WE20 - Checking Spring Band Clamp on Coolant Reservoir and Replacing it if Necessary

Spring band clamp on coolant reservoir

Information:

This is to inform you of a voluntary Workshop Campaign on the above-mentioned vehicles. There is a
possibility that two spring band clamps with too large a diameter were installed on a breather
hose for the engine cooling system reservoir.
The inadequate pre-tension force of the spring band clamps can result in a small amount of coolant
leaking out when the vehicle is driven.

Required:

Check spring band clamps on the coolant reservoir and replace them if necessary.

vehicle. This campaign is scope specific to the VIN! Failure to verify in PIWIS may result in an improper
repair. This campaign affects 37 vehicles in North America.

Check spring band clamps.
To do this, read off the diameter of the spring band
clamps from the marking on the clip  Checking
spring band clamps:
- Marking “14” = diameter of 14 mm.
- Marking “16” = diameter of 16 mm.

If the diameter of the spring band clamps is
14 mm, continue with Step 4.
Ifspring band clamps with a diameter of 16
mm are installed, continue with Step 3 and
replace the incorrect spring band clamps.

Replace spring band clamps.
3.1

Carefully unscrew the cap on the coolant
reservoir and release any overpressure.

3.2

Use suitable assembly pliers to open the

upper spring band clamp and push it back.
Unclip the coolant return hose on the coolant reservoir if necessary.

3.3

Pull the T-piece off the connection from the coolant reservoir and slide the spring band clamp
off the T-piece.

3.4

Open new spring band clamp with a diameter of 14 mm, Porsche Part No.:
N 906.867.01, using assembly pliers and slide it onto the T-piece.

3.5

Push the T-piece onto the collar of the reservoir.

3.6

Fit new spring band clamp at the same position as the spring band clamp you removed
earlier using assembly pliers.

3.7

Replace the lower spring band clamp in the same way as the upper spring band clamp.
To do this, complete Steps 3.2 to 3.6.

Screw on cap on the coolant reservoir until you feel it locking securely.

Install front right trim panel (engine compartment)  Workshop Manual '700219 Removing and

Enter the workshop campaign in the Warranty and Maintenance booklet.

necessary, the required part numbers will need to be manually entered into warranty system by the dealer
administrator.
