Information:

This is to inform you of a voluntary Workshop Campaign on the above-mentioned vehicles. The opening
for the wheel hub cover on the 20-inch Sport Classic wheel (I-no. XRU) was not machined
correctly due to an error during the production process.
As a result, there is no guarantee that the wheel can be balanced correctly when changing the tire,
depending on the wheel balancing machine used. This can result in noticeable vibrations and reduced
driving comfort.

vehicle. This campaign is scope specific to the VIN! Failure to verify in PIWIS may result in an improper

and advises them to contact their authorized Porsche dealer/Centre for repair.

Information
•

The temperature of the tires during removal/mounting must be at least 59° F (15° C)
(ideal temperature: approx. 68° F (20° C)). Allow enough time to heat the vehicle/tires
in a suitable environment if necessary.

•

Before changing a tire, read out the remaining life span of the wheel electronics unit
(battery capacity) using the PIWIS Tester. The value you read out gives an indication as
to whether or not it needs to be replaced (not a 100% value). If the values are considerably lower than expected for the next tire change, talk to the customer and discuss
whether the wheel electronics unit(s) should also be replaced.

•

Only use TIP TOP Universal or Contifix as the removal/mounting paste (sliding
compound). Use sufficient sliding compound.

•

Do not exert any considerable localized pressure on the disc wheel (rim) and tyre during
removal/mounting. If excessive pressure is applied, damage will occur that will render a
tire unusable (ready for disposal) and/or require a new disc wheel (rim).

•

Before removal/mounting, check the mounting head of the mounting machine for
damage (scoring, soiling). Clean the mounting head if necessary, or replace it. A dirty
or damaged mounting head can cause paint damage and pressure points on the rim
flange.

•

All parts that touch the disc wheel and tire must be made of plastic to prevent damage
to paintwork during removal/mounting. Protect the rim flange with adhesive tape if
necessary. The mounting lever can also be covered with adhesive tape in order to avoid
damaging the area around the spokes (during removal/fitting).

•

If you do not have a mounting lever with plastic protection, use a rim flange protector
(assembly aid) and avoid letting it slip on to the rim flange.

•

Before re-fitting the tire, check it for damage (sealing face between tire/rim, ply
breakage, tire beads, sidewalls and tread depth).

•

On vehicles with TPM (aluminum valve), a new valve with a new fastening screw must be
installed when changing the wheel electronics unit.

•

When mounting tires, pay particular attention to the rolling direction and the inside and
outside.

Remove wheel electronics unit and install it on the new disc wheel with a new valve 

Mount the tire you removed earlier on the new disc wheel  Workshop Manual '444019

The working times specified below were determined specifically for carrying out this campaign and may
differ from the working times published in the Labor Operation List in PIWIS.

Warranty claims should be submitted via WWS/PQIS.
Open campaigns may be checked by using either the PIWIS Vehicle Information system or through PQIS
Job Creation.
Labor, parts, and sublet will be automatically inserted when Technician is selected in WWS/PQIS. If
necessary, the required part numbers will need to be manually entered into warranty system by the dealer
administrator.
Wheel balance stick-on weights can be added manually in WWS as a sublet part.
