Shouldered bolt on locking mechanism for the convertible top bow

Information:

This is to inform you of a voluntary Workshop Campaign on the above-mentioned vehicles. There is a
possibility that the shouldered bolt on the locking mechanism for the convertible top bow does
not meet the required specifications on the affected vehicles.
As a result, the shouldered bolt can become corroded and impair the function of the locking mechanism
over the service life of the vehicle. This can result in wind noise and it may not be possible to open the
convertible top.

Required:

Replace shouldered bolt on locking mechanism for the convertible top bow.

The VIN(s) can be checked by using PIWIS Vehicle Information link to verify if the campaign affects the
vehicle. This campaign is scope specific to the VIN! Failure to verify in PIWIS may result in an improper
repair. This campaign affects 8 vehicles in North America.

Tools:

Torque wrench, 2 - 10 Nm (1.5 - 7.5 ftlb.), e.g. V.A.G 1783 - Torque wrench, 2-10 Nm (1.5-7.5 ftlb.)

Information
The following work is described for the left side of the vehicle as an example. The steps are identical for
both sides of the vehicle and must be carried out at the left and right of the convertible top.

Move convertible top into position so that the locking
mechanisms for the convertible top bows are
accessible.
1.1

Switch on ignition.

1.2

Open the convertible top electrically until the
convertible top is at the very top horizontal
position  Positioning convertible top.

Cancel the opening process, switch off
ignition and remove ignition key.

Replace shouldered bolt on locking mechanism for
the convertible top bow.
2.1

Hold locking mechanism  Replacing
shouldered bolt -1- securely and unscrew
and remove shouldered bolt  Replacing
shouldered bolt -2-.
Information
For play and tolerance compensation, the
shouldered bolt is screwed to the locking
mechanism with washers.
The number of washers used can therefore
vary.

Replacing shouldered bolt

During subsequent installation of the new shouldered bolt, make sure to fit the same
number of new washers.
2.2

Dispose of shouldered bolt and washers.

2.3

Remove any corrosion residue from the locking mechanism using a suitable tool.
Information
Make sure not to trap the washers when screwing in the shouldered bolt.

Screw in and tighten new shouldered bolt  Replacing shouldered bolt -2- with new washers
from the repair kit, Porsche Part No. 000.043.302.70, on the locking mechanism.
Tightening torque 6 Nm (4.5 ftlb.)

Perform function test on convertible top. To do this, actuate the switch in the centre console and
open and close the convertible top fully once.

necessary, the required part numbers will need to be manually entered into warranty system by the dealer
administrator.
