Dear Service Manager,
This service bulletin follows Tips & Tricks No. 64, concerning partial failures of the 1199 Panigale left side
handlebar switch. In cases where the specific failure is reported and verified an additional wiring harness, P/N:
51029281A, must be installed. It is no longer necessary to replace the instrument panel under these
circumstances.
Note: This service bulletin is not a product update campaign. This service operation shall be carried
out ONLY if the customer reports the above mentioned faulty operation.

Affected Vehicles:
We would like to inform you that the instrument panel hardware has been modified, in order to prevent this
possible malfunction, starting from the frame serial numbers listed in the table below. Only the bikes having a
older serial number could require the installation of the additional wiring harness.

SERVICE SOLUTION:
To install the additional wiring, P/N: 51029281A, onto the vehicle proceed as follows:
1) Remove ignition switch cover and LH conveyor cover (sections 05 and 08 of workshop manual);
2) Remove the three retaining ties; the large tie (1), the small tie (2), and the button tie (3) L=62 mm.

3) Disconnect the following wiring:
 Wiring branch connector for GPS (4) and cap (5);

Left switch wiring branch connector (6) and left switch cable (7);

4) Apply one side of the 3M DUAL LOCK Velcro (9A) at the bottom of the additional wiring module (8);
thoroughly clean the mating surface with degreaser before applying.
The 3M DUAL LOCK Velcro (9A) has to be positioned at the distance shown in the figure below:

5) Apply the remaining side of the 3M DUAL LOCK Velcro (9B) inside headlight fairing, left-hand inner
compartment. Thoroughly clean the mating surface with degreaser before applying.
Velcro (9B) has to be positioned at the distance shown in the figure below:

6) Position the module, present on additional wiring harness (8), onto the Velcro (9B), respecting the
distance of 50 mm from inner profile (12).

7) Restore wiring connections as follows:


Left switch wiring branch (6) with connector (10A) on additional wiring harness;



Left switch cable (7) with connector (10B) on additional wiring harness;

Cap (5) with connector (10D) on additional wiring harness;



Wiring branch for GPS (4) with connector (10C) on additional wiring harness;

8) Restore wiring fasteners as follows:


Insert large tie (1) inside left-hand electrical component support; secure left switch cable (7), main
wiring front branch (11) and wiring branch for GPS (4) (after bending the latter as shown in the
figure below).



Bend additional wiring harness central section, as shown in the figure below;

Join the additional wiring branch for the module, to the previously bent wiring described
above, as pictured below;



Finally, bend the additional wiring branch, connected with the cap, as shown in the figure below,
and join it to the other cables.

Secure the joined cables with button tie (3), L=62 mm, you had previously removed;

9) Loop the small tie (2) so as to lock in place the left switch main wiring (6) to the additional wiring, and
main wiring front branch (11).

10) Start vehicle and check, in the following sequence, for the correct operation of:
 Instrument panel menu displaying and scrolling with Riding Mode selection;
 Horn;
 Right and left turn indicators;
 High beam light.
SPARE PARTS:
Additional wiring harness P/N: 51029281A, includes (2) 3M DUAL LOCK Velcro stickers.
WARRANTY:
Additional wiring harness P/N: 51029281A installation reimbursement will be issued through the standard
warranty claim procedure via the DCS.
We remind you that this update is NOT listed in the DCS “VIN HISTORY”, a “NEW WARRANTY CLAIM”
must be filed following the procedure illustrated below (warranty claim fields will be automatically filled).
The above described procedure has been coded as follows: CR096–TSB-13–002.
Labor time that will be reimbursed for this update, and for filling in the warranty information, is 24 minutes (4
labor units).
