DEFECT DESCRIPTION:
Certain DuraStar and WorkStar vehicles may have been built without the vent hose on 5
and 15 gallon Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) tanks.
ELIGIBILITY:
This procedure applies ONLY to vehicles marked in the International® Service PortalSM
with FSC 16114. Also complete any other open campaigns listed on the Service Portal
at this time.
TOOLS REQUIRED:
No special tools are required for this procedure.

WORK INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING! To prevent property damage, personal injury, and / or death, park
vehicle on hard flat surface, turn the engine off, set the parking brake and install
wheel chocks to prevent the vehicle from moving in both directions.
WARNING! To prevent property damage, personal injury, and / or death, if the
vehicle must be raised, do not work under the vehicle supported only by jacks.
Jacks can slip or fall over.
WARNING! To prevent personal injury and / or death, always wear safe eye
protection when performing vehicle maintenance.
WARNING! To prevent property damage, personal injury, and /or death, allow
components in engine compartment to cool before servicing engine or vehicle.
WARNING! To prevent property damage, personal injury, and / or death, keep
flames or sparks away from vehicle and do not smoke while servicing the
vehicle’s batteries. Batteries expel explosive gases.
WARNING! To prevent property damage, personal injury, and / or death, remove
the ground cable from the negative terminal of the battery batteries before
disconnecting any electrical components. Always connect the ground cable last.

1. Park vehicle on a flat surface.
2. Shift transmission to Park or Neutral and set parking brakes.
3. Install wheel chocks.

4. Visually inspect DEF tank level sender for vent hose (Figures 1 & 2, Item 1):
A. If vent hose is present, proceed to Step 6.
B. If vent hose is not present, proceed to Step 5.

5. Install vent hose:
A. 5 Gal Tank: Connect vent hose (Figure 1, Item 1) to DEF level sending
unit. Route hose to rear of tank. Using cable lock strap (Figure 3, Item 1),
secure vent hose to coolant hose.

B. 15 Gal Tank: Connect vent hose (Figure 2, Item 1) to DEF level sending
unit. Route hose to left side of tank. Using two cable lock strap and cable
lock strap mounts (Figure 4, Item 1), secure vent hose to DEF tank
bracket.
6. Remove wheel chocks.

WARRANTY CLAIMS

Warranty claim expense is to be charged to Warranty. Claims are to be submitted in the
normal manner, making reference to Field Service Campaign 16114.
It is important that the coding be completed properly to assist in processing the warranty
claim. Complete instructions will be found in the Warranty Policy Manual, Section 7.1.8.
As with all claim submissions, items acquired locally must be submitted in the “Other
Charges” tab. The cost of any bulk items (such as a bag of cable tie straps, roll of wire,
barrel of oil, or tube of silicone) should be prorated for the cost of the individual pieces /
amount used during each repair.
To make sure this important improvement is made in a timely manner, all claims for
16114 activity must be submitted by 24 June 2018 or within the normal warranty period
for the component, if after 24 June 2018.
