Powertrain Warranty. This warranty is in effect for
60 months or 60,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s in-service date.

Repair Procedure
1. Remove the 8 bolts, front suspension
member bracket LH and front suspension
member bracket RH from the No. 3 frame
crossmember sub-assembly and
vehicle body.
A. Support the manual transmission with a
transmission jack.
B. Remove the 4 bolts and 4 nuts on the
No. 3 frame crossmember sub-assembly.

C. Lower transmission assembly to access
main lock ball plug.
NOTE
Removing the transmission from vehicle
is not necessary to access lock
ball plug.
2. Using a 10 mm hex wrench, remove the No.
2 straight screw plug with head from the rear
transmission case.

3. Remove the lock ball pin and shift/select
lever spring from the rear transmission case.
4. Install the NEW lock ball pin and OLD shift/select lever spring to the rear transmission case.
NOTE
Lock ball pin does NOT require indexing.

5. Using a 10 mm hex wrench, install a NEW No. 2 straight screw plug with head to the rear
transmission case.
Torque: 25 N*m (250 kgf*cm, 18ft*lbf)
6. Install the 8 bolts, front suspension member bracket LH and front suspension member bracket
RH from the No. 3 frame crossmember sub-assembly and vehicle body.
Torque: 33 N*m (337 kgf*cm, 24ft*lbf)
7. Install the 4 bolts and 4 nuts on the No. 3 frame crossmember sub-assembly.
Torque: 40 N*m (408 kgf*cm, 30ft*lbf)
8. Verify proper function of transmission.
