Replacing Windshield

In the event of windshield issues not caused by outside influence on vehicles still covered by
the Manufacturer's Warranty or with valid Extended Warranty Service Coverage, please proceed
as follows:
 With the windshield still installed on the vehicle, carry out the checks on the
windshield and take photographs of the crack line as indicated in the “Windshield
Information Checklist” attached to this document.
 Remove the windshield.
 Perform the checks on the windshield and take the relative photographs as indicated
in the “Windshield Information Checklist” attached to this document.
 Remove the sealant from the seat of the windshield on the bodyshell, then clean
thoroughly.
 Perform the checks on the windshield seat ribs on the bodyshell and take the relative
photographs as indicated in the “Windshield Information Checklist” attached to
this document.
 Open an ROL and attach the completed “Windshield Information Checklist”
accompanied by the photographs requested.
 Follow the Parts return from Network procedure to return the replaced windshield to
the factory.

- IMPORTANT Warranty claims for the replaced part will be rejected if the aforementioned information
provided to Ferrari is not complete or correct.

1. – Before removing the windshield:
- Take high definition photographs of the crack
line in the windshield from outside the vehicle
and from inside the vehicle (Fig. 1).

- Determine if the crack line originates from the
edge of the windshield (Fig. 2).

- Take a high definition photograph of the edge

of the windshield in the vicinity of the crack line
(Fig. 2).

On WINDSHIELD removed from vehicle
2. – After removing the windshield from the
bodyshell:
- Check whether the cut bead of sealant material
is adhered correctly around the entire perimeter
(Fig. 3) on both the bodyshell side and the
windshield side.

- Take high definition photographs of the cut
bead of sealant material on both the bodyshell
side and the windshield side (Fig. 3)
(take several photos of the beads from different
angles, and take detailed close-ups)
- Check that on both the bodyshell side and the
windshield side, in the area around the crack
line, the cut bead of sealant material is uniform
and uninterrupted with no gaps or bubbles.
- Take high definition photographs of the cut
bead of sealant material on both the bodyshell
side and the windshield side in the area around
the crack line.
- Check that at the center of the bottom edge of
the windshield (Fig. 4), the cut bead of sealant
material is evidently thicker, demonstrating that
it was overlapped correctly during application to
close the perimeter (Fig. 5).
- Take a high definition photograph of the
overlapped bead at the center of the bottom
edge of the windshield (Fig. 5).

On WINDSHIELD SEAT RIBS on bodyshell
3. – After removing the sealant from the windshield
seat on the bodyshell and cleaning thoroughly:
- Check that the three ribs onto which the
windshield is bonded are straight and not
excessively undulated (Fig. 6).
- Take high definition photographs of the three
ribs onto which the windshield is bonded (Fig.
6)
(take several photographs of the ribs from
different angles)

On WINDSHIELD SEAT RIBS on bodyshell
- Check that the rivets near the crack line in the
windshield are installed correctly and do not
protrude from their seats (Fig. 7-8-9);
- Take high definition photographs of the rivets in
the area around the crack line.
