Safety Recall: 2001-11 Multi-Model Driver's Airbag lnflator May Be Over-Pressurized

Today, June 9, 2015, American Honda is announcing the launch of the consolidated driver's airbag inflator safety recall
campaign. All previous driver's airbag inflator campaigns have been superseded to service bulletin 15-040, Safety Recall:
Driver's Airbag lnflator Can Be Over-Pressurized, and all previous bulletins and campaigns have been expired. This only
affects vehicles that have not yet received an updated inflator. Vehicles affected by any of the previous driver's airbag
recalls that were repaired with an updated part (available as of September 12, 2014) will not be included in the new
recall, and do not require additional driver's inflator action at this time.
Claims made against service bulletins 08-093, 10-039, 14-045, or 15-022 should only be processed for vehicles repaired
on or before June 8, 2015. Vehicles repaired on or after today, June 9, 2015 must be claimed against the revised
warranty parameters found in service bulletin 15-040. Claims made using incorrect parameters will be rejected by the
warranty system. American Honda requests that dealers expedite the processing of claims made for vehicles repaired on
or before June 8, 2015 to facilitate the closure of the expired campaigns.
American Honda is currently preparing to notify customers about this issue. Notification will begin in early July, and will be
distributed regionally from south to north throughout the month. Customers whose vehicles have open passenger airbag
concerns will also be notified at the same time. American Honda expects a significant increase in customer traffic due to
these notifications.
Continue to repair vehicles as you have been; aside from a revision of the warranty parameters, the new campaign
procedures are identical to the previous versions provided through the earlier service bulletins. Nonetheless, be sure to
review service bulletin 15-040 to ensure you have the most up-to-date details on the driver's airbag recall procedures.
