Update Your MCS
Software and MCI Tester

The latest software update (MCS_2.010) for the
MCS diagnostic tool was released on June 4,
2015. Make sure your MCS software and the MCI
(diagnostic tool) are up to date for the latest models. Download the software update to your service
department laptop PC from iN by following this
path:

an "OUTSIDE -TOWARDS FILTER COVER" mark
on one side of the filter. This is the first indicator
that the filter can only be installed one way; with
the OUTSIDE mark on the outside as shown. The
other indicator is that if the filter is installed backwards, the outer cover will be difficult to install, as
the oil filter's O-ring is not attached to the oil pipe,
which helps holds the filter in place as the cover
bolts are tightened.

2006-2014 GL1800 w/Navi

Navi Map Update Cards
Updated map software CF and SD cards are available directly from Garmin USA. Update cards feature the latest mapping and software updates for
2006-2014 model year GL 1800 Navi models (Navi
equipped 2015 GL 1800s come loaded with the latest map cards). With the latest card loaded into
the Navi system, customers can access the most
current information to navigate established roads
and points of interest. Update cards can be
ordered directly from Garmin, for details see Service Bulletin SL #70 - GL1800 Navigation System
Update Card by following this path on iN:
Service > Service Publications > Service Bulletins

Type "SL #70" into the Keyword search field to
access the bulletin.

If it's your first time servicing one of these models, be sure to source the filter by part number,
refer to the Maintenance section of the model
specific Service Manual, follow the instructions
exactly, and pay attention to the marks on the filter. As noted in the Service Manual, installing the
oil filter backwards will result in severe engine
damage.

Set-Up Reminders

Oil Filter Installation

The Set-Up Instructions (SUI) for the Pioneer 700
have been revised since the model was first
released, so make sure that your Set-Up staff/
company are working from the current SUI.

Honda Genuine cartridge type oil filters, includes

Some important points to know when setting up
the Pioneer 700 are:

• Front side-nets are the same, left-to-right.

• Rear side-nets are the same, left-to-right.
• The seat back and headrest bolts have different
shoulder lengths: If the seat back bolts (6 mm
shoulder) are used on the headrests, the headrests will be loose when the bolts are tightened.
If the headrest bolts (4 mm shoulder) are used
on the seat back, the foam will be compressed
too much. Make sure the correct bolts are used
in each installation.
• On 2P (M2) type, there is a left and a right rubber flap on the front of the bed. The 4P (M4)
only needs one, on the right side. Warranty
Claims for "missing" left flaps on 4P (M4) type
will be debited.
• Be sure to remove the plastic shipping covers
from the seats when the unit is received. If
moisture or condensation gets underneath, sunlight may then cause the shipping cover to
adhere to the vinyl, causing permanent stains.
This is not a warrantable issue.

New Damper Rod Holder
When performing suspension maintenance on
some models it is necessary to hold the damper
rod in place in order to remove/install a nut/cap or
other component.
The American Honda Special Tools department
has recently sourced a trick damper rod holder
from renowned tool maker, Park Tool. The tool
features five distinct jaw sizes that will accommodate a wide variety of damper rod diameters.
Designed to work with a bench vise, the tool
includes magnetic inserts that allow it to stick to
the vice jaws for fuss-free operation. Don't risk
marring the damper rod with locking pliers or
some other ill-advised set-up; use the good stuff.

The Service Manual for this model specifies a certain kind of suspension fluid for the fork and
shock, however the products listed in the Pro
Honda Oils and Chemicals catalog do not have the
corresponding name. Use this chart to order the
correct suspension fluid from Honda.
