Condensation build up in the fuel filler neck vent tube causing blockage and or restriction not allowing vapors to
vent.

Procedure:
•

Remove the passenger rear wheel and wheel liner.

•

Inspect fuel tank vent tube (see Figure 1) for debris, water/ice. If no restriction is identified this technical
bulletin does not apply.

Note:

The vent tube is white and located next to the filler neck (see Figure 1). Most obstructions are found at the base
of the vent tube where it is curved and goes toward the top of the tank.
[ I )Tip:
Backlighting the tube with a flashlight or use a bore scope to aid in diagnosis.
If the vent path is blocked or restricted , a Shepherd's hook vent will be required to prevent moisture from entering
the vent tube.
Remove the vent valve (black plastic valve on top of vent tube) and using a vacuum pump, remove the debris,
water/ice, and then follow the steps below to assemble and install the required part to prevent further
contamination.

Note:

Vent valve is used on Shepherd's Hook, do not discard and take care not to damage during removal.

to construct a Shepherd's hook vent.

After constructing the Shepherd's hook vent, install it as shown below (Figure 4. and 5.), using the last tie
strap to secure the Shepherd's hook vent to the original vent tube.
