CONDITION SUMMARY:
Situation: An issue has been identified on a limited number of 2014 model year Range Rover Sport (L494) and 2013-2014 model year
Range Rover (L405; standard wheelbase only) vehicles fitted with Land Rover Vehicle Accessories Fixed Side Steps where a 'rattle'
noise may be evident due to the bright finish trim becoming loose.
Action: Retailers are required to HOLD all affected vehicles that are within your control and refrain from releasing the vehicles for new
or used vehicle sale pending completion of the rework action detailed in this Technical Bulletin. Unsold vehicles should have this
performed as part of the Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) process but must have it completed prior to vehicle handover to the customer.
Affected vehicles already in the hands of customers should be updated at the next available opportunity.

SERVICE INSTRUCTION:
All illustrations: Range Rover (L405) shown; Range Rover Sport (L494) similar.
1. Inspect the fixed side steps bright finish trim:
If the trim is missing from one or both side steps, replace the affected side step(s) with a new side step(s).
2.
WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle supported
only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.
Raise and support the vehicle on a four-post lift (see TOPIx Workshop
Manual, section 100-02).
Remove the left-hand side step retaining bolts.

3. Remove the side step rear retaining bolts.

4. With assistance, remove fixed side step.
5. Use a suitable drill, remove the 10 rivets.
6. Discard the 10 rivet heads.
7. Remove the side step trim.

Remove and discard the rest of the 10 rivet inserts.

Using a suitable tool, remove all the excess material from the rivet
removal.

after drilling.
