"SITUATION: THE HEATED FRONT WINDSHIELD MAY NOT OPERATE AND EVIDENCE OF HEAT DAMAGE MAY BE FOUND IN THE ENGINE JUNCTION BOX (EJB) / UNDERHOOD FUSE BOX. DIAGNOSIS MAY DETERMINE THAT THERE MAY BE SIGNS OF VISIBLE HEAT DAMAGE TO EITHER THE HEATED FRONT WINDSHIELD FUSES, HEATED FRONT WINDSHIELD RELAY, OR THE EJB / UNDERHOOD FUSE BOX. CAUSE: AT AMBIENT TEMPERATURES APPROXIMATELY BELOW 38F/4C, THE HEATED FRONT WINDSHIELD AND HEATED REAR WINDOW WILL TURN ON AUTOMATICALLY. THIS MEANS THE HEATED FRONT WINDSHIELD AND HEATED REAR WINDOW MAY BE ON FOR LONGER PERIODS OF TIME WITHOUT THE DRIVER KNOWING. CONDITION SUMMARY:
Situation: The heated front windshield may not operate and evidence of heat damage may be found in the
Engine Junction Box (EJB) / underhood fuse box. Diagnosis may determine that there may be signs of visible
heat damage to either the heated front windshield fuses, heated front windshield relay, or the EJB / underhood
fuse box.
Cause: At ambient temperatures approximately below 38F/4C, the heated front windshield and heated rear
window will turn on automatically. This means the heated front windshield and heated rear window may be on for
longer periods of time without the driver knowing. The extended operation can result in overheating of the fuses
within the Engine Junction Box (EJB) / underhood fuse box.
Action: If there is any sign of deformation of the fuse box at any of the heated front windshield and/or rear
window relay or fuse locations or the surrounding area, refer to the Service Instruction outlined below.

number located on a tag on the fitted harness / Engine Junction Box (EJB).
Remove the heated front windshield and/or heated rear window relays and fuses from their cavities:
If there are any signs of deformation of the underhood fuse box (Engine Junction Box [EJB]) within the
surrounding area of the heated front windshield and/or rear window relays and fuse cavities, replace the
engine compartment harness.
2. Replace fuse box and engine compartment harness assembly (see Topix Workshop Manual, Section 418-00).
