The all-new 2016 Civic Sedan (except Si) will go on sale November 12, 2015. Listed below are a few service and delivery tips to help ensure a
positive customer experience. Following these tips will maintain the high quality you and your customers expect from Honda.
New Model Launch Activity
To ensure our customers are receiving a high-quality product, we will monitor Tech Line, warranty claims and parts demand. So we can quickly
respond to any issues, please review and follow the reporting information below:
Warranty Claims
To facilitate a speedy and thorough investigation, you can assist us by submitting all 2016 Civic warranty claims as quickly as possible, and make
sure any failed parts or components are returned to Warranty Parts Inspection (WPI).
Contacting Tech Line: Please be prepared to provide all relevant details about the issue you are reporting.
If you find any technical or exterior concerns such as moldings, sheet metal, lamps, etc…., please report the item(s) to Tech Line immediately.
Quality digital pictures are a very effective method of sharing market concerns withAmerican Honda.Be prepared to send Tech Line at least four
digital photographs of the problem.

1.

A close-up photograph of the affected area or item.

2.

A photograph of at least 18 inches in diameter depicting the affected area or item.

3.

A photograph from a distance of 3 to 5 feet away.

4.

A photograph of the VIN doorjamb placard.
If the issue involves a noise, a quality sound byte or video with sound can be invaluable.
Note: Please view the photographs yourself to be sure they are clear. The Tech Line inbox has a limit of 20MB per email, so when sending
photos or short video clips adjust the size accordingly or send separate emails. Videos can be reduced in size by using a resolution of 30
frames per second or less.
Changes to Look Out For
Passenger Airbag Off
The Civic is the first Honda model to change direction on how the Passenger airbag light works. Unlike other Honda models, the indicator light
is now illuminated when the passenger seat is unoccupied.
Shift Lock Override
Unlike previous years, shift lock release covers need installation on both CVT and M/T
vehicles.
The location has also changed to the front of the center console. The shift lock release cover is in the plastic bag that contains the warranty
booklet.

Remote Engine Start (EX and above)

Factory installed remote engine start is included on the fob.
Honda Sensing Available on all Trim Levels (included on Touring)
This suite of safety features includes Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM), Forward Collision
Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), and Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow
(ACC).

Google Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (EX and Above)
Simplified access to your favorite apps right from your phone and integrated into the seven inch full color screen. Additional feature
enhancements include but are not limited to a simple one cord connection. Requires Android 5.0 (Lollipop) or later and Apple iOS 7.1.2 or later.
Now supplied with a 1.5A USB port, the new Civic provides a quick charge to your phone.
Electronic Parking Brake with Automatic Brake Hold on all Trim Levels
A new electric parking brake replaces the space robbing hand lever with a simple and slick looking switch. Operation is the same as HR-V

The 2016 Civic navigation is now supported by Garmin and includes features our customers have come to expect, like three dimension image
display

Storage Tips
Please maintain factory tire pressure until the car is ready to be delivered to the customer, which could help reduce wheel vibration claims in some
regions. Drive the vehicle 5-10 miles as needed before delivering to the customer to ensure a perfect delivery.

PDI Tips
Check the 12V Battery –
To ensure long battery life and that the customer receives a fully charged battery, the battery must be checked at the following milestones:
When the vehicle first arrives at the dealership
During PDI (if done at a later time)
During regular intervals while in dealer inventory
Just before delivering the vehicle to the customer

Test the battery with the ED-18 battery tester using the instructions in Service Bulletin 88-023, Battery Testingand Replacement. Do not use the battery’s test
indicator window to check its state-of-charge. If the ED-18 tester does not show GOOD BATTERY, charge the battery (refer to Service Bulletin 89-003,
BatteryMaintenance at Dealers), then recheck it.
Write down the GOOD BATTERY 10-digit code in the Service History booklet:
Write down the code in the “Under Hood (Engine Cold)” section of the PDI check sheet at PDI.
Write down the code in the “Final Inspection (At Delivery)” section.

A Reminder about TPMS – The 2016 Civic features indirect TPMS. Please make sure that tire pressures are correctly set to the pressures stated
in the door jamb and the calibration process is begun prior to delivery. Note, there are three trim dependent calibrations methods used on 2016
Civic. Failure to follow the correct calibration method will result in an illuminated TPMS indicator, (this usually occurs soon after the customer
leaves the dealership). Please refer to the 2016 Civic PDI bulletin for further information.
