Offboard Diagnostic Information System Service (ODIS Service)

1.0 – Introduction
Until further notice, the conditional installation of ODIS Service on commercially available laptops is
allowed. Installation Conditions are specified below along with important Operation Notes.

2.0 – Installation Conditions
 Installations are restricted to laptops with Windows® 7 Professional 64-Bit only. (License requests
for desktops and touchscreen devices, i.e.: tablets, netbooks and notebooks will be denied.)
 Laptop specifications must meet or exceed those of VAS 6150D. E.g.: 4GB RAM & processor, semirugged chassis & motherboard, solid state hard drive etc.
 A genuine VAS 6154 Diagnostic Interface must be capable of connection to the Dealership Wireless
Limited Access Network (WLAN) to enable the use of ODIS Service on the laptop. Otherwise, a
genuine VAS 5054 Diagnostic Interface must be capable of being paired via laptop Bluetooth®.
 Laptop must have at least one “ruggedized” (round) USB 2.0 port for ODIS Service procedures that
require a wired diagnostic interface connection with the vehicle, e.g.: SVM.

3.0 – Operation Notes
 ODIS Service software is developed and tested exclusively on VAS diagnostic devices. The large
scope of commercial hardware and software combinations precludes VWAG from developing and
testing ODIS Service on all computing platforms. As a result, VWAG will not process ODIS Service
application or content feedback from non-VAS laptops.
 ODIS Service functions rely on the minimum operating system and hardware specifications stated
above, and the absence of personal computing software.
 ODIS Service installation and use, as well as Windows operating system, device hardware, Diagnostic
Interface WLAN or Bluetooth connectivity, virus-scan and firewall issues on non-VAS laptops are not
supported by VWGoA DSS.
IMPORTANT!
Users installing ODIS Service on laptops other than those provided by AoA do so entirely at
their own risk. None of VWGoA, its corporate parent, its affiliates under common control or its
subsidiaries are responsible for the corruption or loss of data that may result from the use of
ODIS Service software. The use of ODIS Service is subject to all terms and conditions of use
provided with the ODIS Service software.
