2016 CX-3 - RATTLE NOISE FROM REAR SPOILER WHEN CLOSING LIFTGATE

APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS
2016 CX-3 vehicles with VINs lower than JM1 DK ****** 122701 (produced before November 01, 2015)

DESCRIPTION
Some vehicles may exhibit a rattle noise from the rear spoiler when closing the liftgate.
This may be caused by too much clearance between the rear spoiler and liftgate glass. The excessive clearance may cause the rear spoiler to rattle when closing the liftgate.
The rear spoiler protector (B) thickness has been increased at production to improve fit between rear spoiler
and liftgate glass (C) to illuminate the noise when closing the liftgate.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify customer concern.
2. Remove the rear spoiler. Refer to MS3 online Workshop Manual REAR SPOILER REMOVAL.

3. Remove the protectors (B) (X4) from the rear spoiler (A) as shown. Clean the old protector adhesive surface
using a genuine part cleaner.

4. Attach the new protectors (B) (X4) to the rear spoiler as shown above.

5. Install the rear spoiler. Refer to MS3 online Workshop Manual REAR SPOILER INSTALLATION.
6. Verify repair.
