2016 CX-9 - SQUEAKING NOISE FROM FRONT CONSOLE WHILE DRIVING ON ROUGH ROADS

2016 CX-9 vehicles with VINs lower than JM3TC******114514 (produced before July 18, 2016)

DESCRIPTION
Some vehicles may exhibit a squeaking noise from the left and/or right side front console panels when driving
on rough roads. The noise can also be reproduced by pushing the side panel at the location shown below.

The noise may be caused by the chrome decoration panel (A) interfering with the side panel (B). To eliminate
the noise, a noise prevention tape has been added to the front console.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify the customer concern.
2. Obtain a “Dry type PTFE spray lubricant” to spray between the chrome decoration panel and the side panel.

BLASTER CHEMICAL COMPANIES, INC. PTFE Dry Lube
3. Apply lubricant (A) between the side panel (B) and the chrome decoration panel (C). Apply it to both the left
and right sides.

CAUTION: Clean up the surface immediately after the lubricant is sprayed to avoid damaging the plastic.
4. Verify the repair.
