Supersedes ATE-15-17 dated August 11, 2015 due to updated software.
This communication provides important information on how to obtain and install the latest program
software for the John Bean VAS701001 alignment machines.

Latest Program Software Versions Released:
• John Bean Pro42 Program Software Update for VAS701001 Version 5.2.exe
Installation Requirements:
• All John Bean VAS701001 Aligners must be previously updated to Pro42 Program software version 5.0
or higher before performing this update
• Obtain a copy of Pro42 Aligner software update installation instructions (see attachment)
• Dealers must download the John Bean Pro42 Program Software Update for VAS701001 Version
5.2.exe file from VW ServiceNet>> Workshop Equipment >>Wheel Alignment Software >> VAS701001
John Bean Wheel Alignment Machine Software Updates>>Program Software (Pro42).
Installation:
To update the John Bean VAS701001 Aligner, please read and follow the Pro42 Aligner software and
Vehicle Specification updates installation instructions attached.
Questions regarding installation of software updates to VAS701001 (after they have been downloaded),
can call EquiServ technical support desk (service group for John Bean) at 800-225-5786. EquiServ will
also be able to help with Aligner software and specifications installed from CD.

VAG Pro42 instructions for software installation
ACTION TO BE TAKEN:____________________________________________________________
1.

This software is only for VAS 701 001 Aligner. To determine if the aligner requires this update click on the “About”
icon from the Home Screen. If the current version is 5.1 there is no need to proceed. If the current version is 5.0
from the portal download version 5.1 to a flash drive.

2.

Shut down the alignment software by clicking the “X” in the upper right hand corner of the Home Screen.

3.

Insert the flash drive into one of the empty USB ports on the alignment system.

4.

If Autoplay is not turned on Navigate to the flash drive by holding down the Windows key and the letter “E”. If
autoplay is active click “Open folder to view files” from the popup.

Double click the “VAS 701 001 ver. 5.1.exe” file to begin the installation.

NOTE: DO NOT POWER DOWN THE ALIGNER AT ANY TIME DURING SOFTWARE INSTALLATION.

If attempts are made to install this software on a non VAS 701 001 system the installer will receive a popup
message informing them that this software is “Only for Pro42 VAS 701 001 update!”

The system will prepare for software Installation. An overall software installation progress bar will appear.

A VAGPortal InstallShield Wizard shows the progress of the installation.

3.

The user will be prompted about a “Driver” during the install. This “Driver” must be installed. Click “Install this driver
software anyway”.

4.

The user will be prompted to attach a device to the computer, this device is the camera(s) already attached. Click
on “OK” to continue.

Click on “Finish” to complete the successful install.
