Title : DTC 242 or VSS Codes in Cummins
Applies To : All International Trucks with Cummins Engines and
Automatic Transmissions built prior to the launch of SCR.
On trucks built with automatic transmissions and Cummins engines, and engine is setting
242 fault code or getting other VSS fault codes. Switch Vehicle speed sensor type from
Magnetic to DataLink-Tailshaft.
You must also remove the speed signal wires from pins 27 and 36 of the chassis connector at
the engine ECM.
