Summary
THIS TECHNICAL SESRVICE BULLETIN DESCRIBES THE VERIFICATION AND RESOLUTION OF DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID (DEF) LEAKING AROUND THE AFTERTREATMENT DEF DOSING UNIT ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR, CAUSED BY INTERNAL CRACKING DUE TO FREEZING DEF. POSSIBLE FAULT CODES DUE TO THIS ISSUE INCLUDES, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO: 1682,, 1696, 2976, 3558, 3559, 3572, 3574, 3577, 3596 AND 4251.

Issue
Multiple fault codes can be set due to diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) leaking around the
aftertreatment DEF dosing unit electrical connector, caused by internal cracking due to
freezing DEF. List of possible fault codes includes, but is not limited to: 1682, 1696, 2976,
3558, 3559, 3572, 3574, 3577, 3596, and 4251.

Verification
Use the appropriate fault code troubleshooting tree to confirm and troubleshoot the
corresponding fault codes. During the troubleshooting process, look for evidence of leaking
DEF around the aftertreatment DEF dosing unit electrical connector. See Figure 1.

Resolution
If DEF is found leaking around the aftertreatment DEF dosing unit electrical connector,
replace the aftertreatment DEF dosing unit.
Use the following procedure in the ISB6.7 CM2350 B101 Service Manual, Bulletin 2883567.
Refer to Procedure 011-058 in Section 11.
Use the following procedure in the ISL9 CM2350 L101 Service Manual, Bulletin 4310787.
