This is to revise and replace TRP 1575, dated 11-Nov-2014. This revision is to:
1. Update SRTs.
If additional information is required, contact your Cummins Warranty Operations Group

Description
This TRP is being issued to direct the repair action for the following symptoms associated with
the Aftertreatment Diesel Exhaust Fluid Dosing Unit (aka the DEF pump) on ISX CM2250
engines with:

Fault Code 1681
Fault Code 2976

Leaking diesel exhaust fluid from the Aftertreatment Diesel Exhaust Fluid Dosing Unit
electrical connector

The Aftertreatment Diesel Exhaust Fluid Controller software phase 3.7.8.3 contains updates
which will reduce the occurrences of the symptoms listed above. In addition to the normal
troubleshooting for the symptoms, the Aftertreatment Diesel Exhaust Fluid Controller software
must be updated to 3.7.8.3 and the DPF delta-P sensor tubes must be checked to ensure
proper orientation. For repairs associated with leaking DEF at the electrical connector, the
OEM aftertreatment harness connected to the dosing unit may be damaged as a result of the
DEF leak and may need to be replaced in some cases.
This TRP will also cover the OEM harness replacement if needed.
NOTE: For engines still within Warranty coverage, a separate claim should be filed to
Warranty for reimbursement of the troubleshooting, the DEF dosing unit replacement (if
directed by troubleshooting procedures), and the OEM aftertreatment harness (if
needed). For engines still within Warranty, only the Diesel Exhaust Fluid Controller
software update and DPF delta-P tube reorientation should be filed to this TRP. In all
other cases, the entire repair work for the symptoms listed can be filed to this TRP.
NOTE: This TRP can be applied more than once to any ESN as long as the eligibility
requirements are met.

Action
In order to qualify for repair under this field action, an engine:

must be within the 5 year/500,000 mile service window, and
must be on the attached ESN list, and
must meet the QuickServe® Online Fault Code Analyzer criteria for troubleshooting fault
code 1681, 2976, or 4167 and/or must have an external diesel exhaust fluid leak at the
diesel exhaust fluid dosing unit.

After verifying that the engine meets the above requirements, perform the following actions:
1. Follow the published troubleshooting for the fault codes and/or DEF leak covered by this
TRP.
2. Replace the aftertreatment diesel exhaust fluid dosing unit only if directed by the
published troubleshooting. Please refer to Procedure 011-058 in the ISX15 CM2250
Service Manual, Bulletin 4022250.
3. If diesel exhaust fluid was leaking from the aftertreatment diesel exhaust fluid dosing unit
electrical connector, inspect the associated OEM connector and harness. Replace the
OEM harness if needed. Please refer to the appropriate OEM Manual.
4. Update the aftertreatment diesel exhaust fluid controller software to phase 3.7.8.3 or
later. Please refer to Procedure 011-077 in the ISX15 CM2250 Service Manual, Bulletin
4022250.

5. Inspect the orientation of the aftertreatment differential pressure sensor and sensor tubes
to ensure they are installed in the correct orientation to achieve a continuous downward
slope away from the sensor ports in order to prevent moisture build up. Please refer to
TSB140105.
6. If needed, adjust the aftertreatment differential pressure sensor and sensor tubes to the
correct orientation. Please refer to TSB140105 along with the video TSB created to help
illustrate the adjustment procedure (http://tsb.cumminsvirtualcollege.com/140105.aspx).
