Description
Newmar Corporation has decided a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in specific motor homes. In
response to notification from Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation, an incorrect front tire inflation level is
shown on their provided ‘Incomplete Vehicle Label.’

Issue: Inflation of the tire beyond the manufacturer’s maximum pressure rating may increase the risk of a crash,
resulting in injury and/or damage to property.
Motor homes included in this recall include: 2016 Ventana (40’ and 43’ floorplans) and 2016 Dutch Star (37’ and
40’ floorplans) motorhomes built between 3/19/2015 and 1/21/2016.
Recommended Action
Correction: Freightliner will send Newmar a new label with the correct 120 PSI rating for the tires. Newmar will
mail the correct label to the customer. Check the tire pressure to verify that the pressure does not exceed the
maximum pressure rating as printed on the new label.

Newmar Corporation will mail out labels with the correct tire rating to be installed by the customer. If you have
any questions, please contact the Newmar Service Department at: 1-866-290-5371, and a Newmar associate will
provide you with any assistance you may need.

How to Install a New Chassis Information Label
Work instructions related to TSB 449 and TSB 450
1. Locate the label on the outside wall behind the driver's chair.
2. Clean the existing label with rubbing alcohol. If the edges
are peeling, it may be easier to remove the label. If you are
installing a new label over the top of the existing label, take
care to align the new label directly over the old label so that
it is covered completely.
3. Install a clear
protective film over
the new label.
4. Repeat the
process for the label
in the kitchen
cabinet.

This notice is sent to you as a Newmar Dealer in accordance with the requirements of the National
Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Newmar Corporation has decided that a defect which relates to
motor vehicle safety exists in specific Newmar recreational vehicles.
The National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act requires that each vehicle which is subject to a recall
campaign of this type must be satisfactorily repaired within a reasonable time after the owner has
tendered it for repair. A failure to adequately repair within 60 days after tender of a vehicle is prima
facie evidence of failure to repair within a reasonable time. To avoid providing these problematic
solutions, every effort must be made to promptly schedule an appointment with each owner and to
repair their vehicle as soon as possible. Vehicle owners are being notified of this recall. If the condition is
not remedied within a reasonable time, they are instructed on how to contact the National Highway
Traffic Safety Administration.
REASON FOR THIS RECALL
Newmar Corporation has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in specific
motor homes.
In response to notification from Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation, an incorrect front tire inflation
level is shown on the ‘Incomplete vehicle label’ provided by Freightliner Custom Chassis. The incomplete
vehicle label provided by Freightliner for these specific motorhomes shows front tire max pressure as
130 psi while the front tire is only rated for max pressure of 120 psi. The tire pressure is correct on
Newmar’s ‘final stage manufacturer label’ on these same motorhomes which correctly shows a max of
120 psi for these tires. Inflation of tire past the manufactures maximum pressure rating could increase
the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Freightliner will send Newmar a
new label with the correct 120 psi rating for the tires. Newmar will mail the correct label to the
customer.
Motorhomes included in this recall include:
2016 Ventana 40/43 foot and 2016 Dutch Star 37/40 foot motorhomes built between 3/19/2015 and
1/21/2016.
These motor homes require immediate service. Continued use poses a potential safety hazard.
DEALER CAMPAIGN RESPONSIBILITY
Dealers are to provide to all customers/owner vehicles the service of completing this campaign at no
charge to the customer/owner regardless of vehicle age, vehicle mileage, or ownership at the time of
repair.

REASON FOR THIS RECALL
Newmar Corporation has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in specific
motor homes.
Certain Motorhomes may fail to comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard
120 - Tire Selection and Rims. The certification label may not contain the correct front axle tire pressure
information. Incorrect tire pressure could lead to tire failure, resulting in loss of vehicle control
increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Manufacturer will
mail out revised labels indicating 120 PSI (827 kPa) maximum front axle tire inflation pressure.
These motor homes require immediate service. Continued use poses a potential safety hazard.
This recall applies to certain Newmar motorhomes built between 6/16/2015 and 11/17/2015.

Dealers are to provide to all customers/owner vehicles the service of completing this campaign at no
charge to the customer/owner regardless of vehicle age, vehicle mileage, or ownership at the time of
repair.
