Description
Newmar Corporation has decided a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in specific motor homes. On
certain motorhomes built on Freightliner Chassis, the front rims maximum rating is 120 PSI, which is lower than
the Michelin tires’ maximum inflation rating of 130 PSI.

Issue: Inflation of tire beyond the manufacturer’s maximum rim rating may increase the risk of a crash resulting
in injury and/or damage to property.
Motorhomes included in this recall include: 2016 Ventana LE and 2015 Ventana LE motorhomes built between
1/29/2015 and 2/3/2016.
Recommended Action
Correction: The customer has two options:
Option #1 - A replacement Federal Tag label with 120 PSI rim rating will be issued. Check the tire pressure to
verify that the pressure does not exceed the maximum pressure rating as printed on the new label.
Option #2 - Front rims with a rating of 130 PSI will be installed with an updated Freightliner Incomplete
Vehicle Label.
Repair Procedure:
Newmar Corporation will provide owners of all affected motor homes a remedy for the potential defect at no
charge for parts or labor. Contact the Newmar Service Department at: 1-866-290-5371.
Flat rate code: 16v 055
Option #1 Labor Time: .3 hr.
Option #2 Labor Time: 1.5 hr. (for both front rim replacements)

How to Install a New Chassis Information Label
Work instructions related to TSB 449 and TSB 450
1. Locate the label on the outside wall behind the driver's chair.
2. Clean the existing label with rubbing alcohol. If the edges
are peeling, it may be easier to remove the label. If you are
installing a new label over the top of the existing label, take
care to align the new label directly over the old label so that
it is covered completely.
3. Install a clear
protective film over
the new label.
4. Repeat the
process for the label
in the kitchen
cabinet.

This notice is sent to you as a Newmar Dealer in accordance with the requirements of the National
Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Newmar Corporation has decided that a defect which relates to
motor vehicle safety exists in specific Newmar recreational vehicles.
The National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act requires that each vehicle which is subject to a recall
campaign of this type must be satisfactorily repaired within a reasonable time after the owner has
tendered it for repair. A failure to adequately repair within 60 days after tender of a vehicle is prima
facie evidence of failure to repair within a reasonable time. To avoid providing these problematic
solutions, every effort must be made to promptly schedule an appointment with each owner and to
repair their vehicle as soon as possible. Vehicle owners are being notified of this recall. If the condition is
not remedied within a reasonable time, they are instructed on how to contact the National Highway
Traffic Safety Administration.
REASON FOR THIS RECALL

lower than the Michelin tires maximum inflation rating of 130 psi. Inflation of tire past the manufactures
maximum rim rating could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.
Correction: The customer is being offered a choice of two options.

1/16/2015 and 1/13/2016.
These motor homes require immediate service. Continued use poses a potential safety hazard.

Dealers are to provide to all customers/owner vehicles the service of completing this campaign at no
charge to the customer/owner regardless of vehicle age, vehicle mileage, or ownership at the time of
repair.

On certain motorhomes, the front rims maximum inflation rating is 120 psi (827 kPa) which is lower than
the Michelin tires maximum inflation rating of 130 psi (896 kPa). Inflating the tire past the manufactures
maximum rim inflation rating could result in a blowout increasing the risk of a crash causing injury
and/or damage to property. Correction: The customer is being offered a choice of two options.
#1 a replacement Federal Tag label with 120 psi rating will be issued.
#2 front rims with a 130 psi rating will be installed with an updated Incomplete Vehicle Label by
Freightliner.
These motor homes require immediate service. Continued use poses a potential safety hazard.
Motorhomes included in this recall include: 2016 Ventana LE built between 6/18/2015 and 7/21/2015.
DEALER CAMPAIGN RESPONSIBILITY
Dealers are to provide to all customers/owner vehicles the service of completing this campaign at no
charge to the customer/owner regardless of vehicle age, vehicle mileage, or ownership at the time of
repair.
