Summary
THIS TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN DESCRIBES THE VERIFICATION AND RESOLUTION OF FAULT CODE 3258 DUE TO A MISSING OEM FUSE IN PETERBILT 579 AND KENWORTH T680 CHASSIS. THE FUSE THAT POWERS THE DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID (DEF) LINE HEATER RELAY WAS NOT INSTALLED ON SOME OF THE IDENTIFIED CHASSIS. THE FUSE PANEL LABEL DOES NOT SPECIFY A FUSE IS NEEDED IN THE REQUIRED TERMINAL.

Fluid (DEF) Line Heater Fault Code 3258 in PACCAR™ Chassis (Peterbilt™ 579 and
Kenworth™ T680)
Issue
The fuse that powers the DEF line heater relay was not installed on some ISX12 CM2350
X102 and ISX15 CM2350 X101 PACCAR™ trucks. The fuse panel label does not specify a
fuse is needed in the required terminal.
Verification
Inspect the “L10” location in the fuse panel for a fuse. Units built without the fuse for the DEF
line heater relay will have active Fault Code 3258.
