PITMAN ARM NUT REPLACEMENT

DESCRIPTION
On the vehicles affected by this bulletin, replace the pitman arm nut and re-torque to specification.

DANGER
Park vehicle safely, apply parking brake, stop engine. Prior to working on the vehicle, set the ignition
switch to the OFF position and trip the main circuit breakers equipped with a trip button. On Commuter
type vehicles, set the battery master switch (master cut-out) to the OFF position.

1. On the vehicle, locate the front bumper.(Fig. 1)
2. Unscrew the top retaining bolts #5001878 to
allow tilting of the bumper. (Fig. 2)

3. Using a cold chisel, undo the punch mark
(Fig. 4) that locks the nut to the pitman arm.
4. Remove locking nut. Discard.
5. Do not remove pitman arm.

INSTALLATION
1. Install a new fixing nut (Prevost #661050).
Tighten nut to 570 lb-ft (705 Nm).
2. Stake the nut on the shaft using a punch mark
into the groove (Refer to figure 4).

3. Apply torque seal across the pitman arm face,
nut and shaft to clearly reveal any
movement.(Fig. 5)

4. Re-install front bumper retaining bolts
#5001878. (Fig. 6)
Tighten to 47 lb-ft
