High Pressure Filter Maintenance

1. Introduction
The Agility Fuel Systems high pressure filter is designed to catch contaminants that may be
introduced when fueling. The housing is made of anodized aluminum alloy. Its working pressure is
4500 psi with a burst rating in excess of 16,000 psi. The element provides both particulate and
coalescing filtration.
Maintenance Intervals
• Drain every 1500 miles (2400 km)
• Replace filter element every 3000 miles (4800 km)
If no oil contamination is found by the third filter element change, you may extend the drain
intervals to 5000 miles (8000 km) and extend the filter element change to 10000 miles (16000 km).

2. Affected Units
This procedure applies to all Agility Fuel Systems CNG installations high pressure filter assembly
20100008 and the new Mani-Filter™ 20101001 and similar filtration components.

CAUTION: The filter should not be under any pressure when servicing or
personal injury may result.

Turn all tank valves fully closed.
Turn the red-handle main shutoff valve to the ON position.
Close the FMM door (if equipped), and start and run the engine until it stalls.
Check the low pressure gauge to make sure it reads zero psi.
Turn the ignition off, and remove the key. Follow any other vehicle lock-out procedures.
Access the bleed valve (usually inside the FMM housing) and open it slowly using a 5/16-inch
wrench to relieve all remaining pressure in the system.
The system is now ready to service.

To drain the housing, relieve the line pressure, remove the drain plug and drain the housing
until all the liquid is removed. Follow procedures for hazardous waste disposal for this liquid.
It may be a good idea to record the amount of oil and contaminants of the fluid.
Inspect the O-ring, and replace it if necessary.
Clean the drain plug threads, lube the O-ring, and re-install the drain plug.
Torque to 25 to 30 ft-lbs., and apply a torque seal to the plug.

Unscrew the filter bowl from the housing.
Remove the O-ring (item 3 in the diagram) and clean the filter bowl inside and out with a
clean, dry cloth.
Remove the element by pulling it off, and inspect it for oil contamination.
Remove the small O-ring (7) from the element housing.
Un-screw the element base (4) and remove the filter element.
Lubricate the small O-ring and install it on the filter element housing. Use only non-petroleumbased lube such as Parker Super-0-Lube.
Install the new element onto the housing, and screw the element base (4) in place.
Install the filter element onto the element port inside the filter housing. Make sure it seats
properly by twisting the element assembly.

Lubricate and install the filter bowl O-ring (3).
Carefully apply a silicone-based spray lubricant (any brand will do, 3-IN-ONE Professional is
one example) to the filter bowl threads and re-assemble the filter.

NOTE: Apply lube to the threads only, DO NOT allow the lube to contaminate the
filter or O-rings.

Torque the filter bowl to 40 ft-lbs, ±1 ft-lbs., and mark the filter bowl with a torque seal.
If a bleed valve was opened, make sure to close it.
Repressurize the system by slowly opening the cylinder valves, then . . .
Turn the quarter-turn (main shut-off) valve to the OPEN position, and turn the vehicle ignition
key ON. This will allow fuel to flow throughout the system.
Check the HP filter and connections for leaks, and repair as needed.

Filter Bowl: 40 Ft-Lbs, ±1-Ft-Lbs
Hex Plug: 25 to 30 Ft-Lbs
In/Out Ports: 25 to 30 Ft-Lbs

Lubrication Note

1) Apply a silicone-based spray lubricant to
the filter bowl threads only. DO NOT
allow lubricant to contaminate the filter
or O-rings.
2) Apply O-ring lubricant to all O-rings.
Make sure it is silicon-based and NOT
petroleum-based. Parker Super-0-Lube is
suitable.
