New License Keys Available

GENERAL INFORMATION

As announced in the DiagnosticLink® Maximum Usage Strategy eBulletin
letter (Reference Number 20160413-002) sent earlier, on April 1, 2016, new
license keys were made available with the release of the new pricing
structure. The new license key format Pxxx-xxxx-xxxx will replace the old
format Sxxx-xxx-xxxx.

Where to find the new license keys:

Login to order system at https://diagnosticlink.nexiq.com/.
Navigate to My Accounts > My Org > then Subscriptions.
The new license keys will appear in the following format Pxxx-xxxx-xxxx.

Retrieve the new license key from the order site as described above.
For existing licenses, deauthorize the old license key. To deauthorize, open
DiagnosticLink and click Tools > Options > Server > then Deauthorize.
Enter the new license key and click Register.
If upgrading to a newer version, open DiagnosticLink and click Options > then
Deauthorize.
Enter the new license key and click Register.
Register existing and future computer installations of DiagnosticLink with Pxxxxxxx-xxxx license keys.

FAQs:
Q. Do I need to place an order, or renew my existing licenses to get the new
pricing?

A. No, do not order or renew licenses for your location. The new licenses have been
created for each location and are ready to use. You will be automatically billed each
August going forward.
Q. How long can I still use my old licenses?
A. The old licenses are active until June 1, or when they normally expire, whichever
occurs first. You have until this date to switch your equipment to the new registration
key.
Q. How do I change my registration key on an existing laptop from the old
license to the new license?
A. Open DiagnosticLink, go to Tools > Options > Server tab, then click De-authorize.
After authentication, you will be prompted to re-register the tool. Enter the new key at
this time.
Q. If I am an IT admin and I have to obtain several keys for different locations
does this mean I will have to do more work on my end?
A. While it may appear that is the case, please keep in mind that this is really a onetime effort. After the initial setup, the license is self-maintaining. The new licenses are
automatically renewed, and the license count is automatically increased as new
technicians get certified. As a rule, each location gets one key per certified technician
plus an additional 10 percent.
Q. What certification is required for a technician to be eligible to get a license?
A. Any training certification counts towards license eligibility.
Q. I have some technicians that are system certified, but I am not sure they are
comfortable using a Professional license and performing ECU reprogramming?
A. The DTNA Training Department is currently updating the training curriculum. As
part of the transition, we will make sure that appropriate training specific to the use of
the Professional license will be part of the training requirement.
Q. Our location has a training facility and we have dedicated workstations for
training. Do I have to purchase separate licenses for training purposes since
these workstations are not associated with certified technicians?
A. There is no need to purchase separate licenses. All locations with a training facility
will receive additional licenses to cover the training station machines. These licenses
will be made available before the June 1 transition deadline.
Q. In the past, I was able to log on the order system to see what licenses are
available and see computer registration information (computer names). Now,
with separate licenses issued to each location, I no longer see that information
unless I ask a person for the other location to log on and provide that info.
Where will I find that information going forward?

A. This has been identified as an opportunity to further improve the support we
provide. We are currently working on system changes that will allow you to see all
family licenses. A CSA letter containing the details will be sent out once the changes
are in place. This feature will be available later this year during the third quarter.

Deadline to switch to the new license keys is June 1, 2016. After this date, the
old license keys will be deauthorized.
No need to renew the old Sxxx-xxxx-xxxx licenses going forward unless
transferring or renewing for a customer.
