Side Mount Composite Cover Cracks at Attach Points

1. Introduction
Some composite side-mounted CNG cylinder covers have been cracking at their mounting
points, as shown in Figure 1.
The addition of a pair of Belleville (spring) washers on the outside surface and one
neoprene washer on the underside of the composite cover cushions the mounting points
and minimizes cracks. In addition, the red aluminum cover mounting blocks are being
replaced with hard-anodized blocks. The improved blocks are green for easy identification.

2. Affected Units
This procedure applies to cracked housings at the center cover attachment bolts on Agility
Fuel Systems side-mounted CNG systems with composite covers and aluminum support
brackets.

5. Procedure
1. It is NOT necessary to depressurize or defuel the system for this procedure.
2. Refer to Figure 2, Figure 3 and Figure 4 for details.

Torque Spec
20 Ft-Lbs, 4 places

3. Remove the red cover attach blocks from the cylinder straps.
4. Apply anti-seize to the 10-24 screw threads and use them to install the new green
blocks.
5. Apply anti-seize to the 1-1/4-inch screw threads.
6. Arrange the hardware as shown in Figure 4 and attach the cover section.
7. Torque all bolts to 20 Ft-lbs.

6. Warranty Reimbursement
This procedure is being handled under our normal warranty policies. Standard repair time
(SRT) is 0.25 hours per cover section. Refer to the Warranty Manual, ENP-067, for
warranty claim and reimbursement procedures.
