Symptom:
Fault Codes 1866, 3383, or 3228 active or intermittently active
Root Cause:
The original equipment manufacturer (OEM) 14-pin crossover wiring harness is zip-tied
to the main engine harness in addition to the single zip-tie connection performed by the
engine plant.
A malfunction of the engine wiring harness may be accelerated by excessive flexing or
strain, leading to intermittent or open circuit conditions. These fault codes are associated
with sensors on the Sensor Supply 2 circuit, which include the aftertreatment fuel
pressure sensor, exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) differential pressure sensor, EGR
orifice pressure sensor, exhaust gas pressure sensor, and engine intake throttle actuator
position sensor (if equipped).
Verification
Connect to the engine control module (ECM) with INSITE™ electronic service tool.
Check if any fault codes related to sensors on Sensor Supply 2 are active or recently
inactive. Verify Fault Codes 1866, 3383, or 3228 are active or intermittently active. See
the ISX15 CM2350 X101 Wiring Diagram, Bulletin 4310638.
Inspect engine and verify zip ties (Figure 1, Item 2) were used to secure the OEM 14 pin
crossover wiring harness (Figure 1, Item 1) to the main engine wiring harness. In
addition, the OEM 14 pin crossover wiring harnesses may have been zip-tied to the main
engine wiring harness by the engine plant. Inspect for painted zip-ties in this area.

Resolution
Remove zip-ties (Figure 1, Item 2) that secure the OEM 14 pin wiring harness and
connector to the main engine wiring harness as shown in Figure 2. This may include zipties installed at the engine plant (painted), and installed by the OEM (not painted).
If any fault codes related to sensors on Sensor Supply 2 are still active, follow the
appropriate fault code troubleshooting tree. See ISX15 CM2350 X101 Fault Code
