Please deliver the 2016 Sonata CarPlay Promotion Kit to the customer upon request. Each dealer was
supplied the promotional kits for their customers.

When a vehicle arrives at the Service Department, access Hyundai
Motor America's "Warranty Vehicle
Information" screen via WEBDCS to identify open Campaigns.
DESCRIPTION: This bulletin describes the procedure for updating the Navigation and/or the Display Audio
System Software for certain 2016 Model Year Sonata (LFa) vehicles to add the Apple CarPlay feature.

Submit claim on Campaign Claim Entry screen upon delivery of the 2016 Sonata CarPlay Promotion
Kit to the customer or if update was requested by customer.

NOTICE
Use the software update USB drive that is included in the 2016 Sonata CarPlay Promotion Kit.
IMPORTANT
It is recommended that radio presets be noted before proceeding with the
update and then restored after the update is completed.
NOTICE
Using the USB drive for other purposes than updating the intended vehicle may render the
navigation system inoperable.

with the Start Stop Button (B).

Park vehicle in a well ventilated
area during the update process.

software update file into the vehicle USB
port (C).

Setup menu.

touch the System Info icon.

If the version is as follows, no further
action is required. Remove USB
update stick.

Do not remove USB drive or turn off
the ignition switch during the update.
Otherwise, the update will not be
completed properly.

It will take approximately 20-40 minutes to
complete the update process.
NOTICE
There will be multiple occurrences
where the Hyundai logo or display
will be black during the update
process. This is normal.

The system will reboot automatically after
the “Update is complete” message
appears.

NOTICE
The software update is completed
after the system reboots and the
Disclaimer or the Home screen is
displayed.
In case the vehicle is turned OFF
during the update process, do not
remove the USB update drive. The
update will resume after the vehicle
is restarted.
If update does not resume, return
to the “System Info” menu using
steps 3-4 and touch the Update
icon to initiate the update again.

Remove the USB drive. Then follow steps
3 and 4 to access the Connectivity
settings screen.
Confirm Android Auto and iOS (Apple®
CarPlay) feature in the Connectivity
Settings is turned ON.

10.
Reprogram the radio presets recorded
before the update.
11.
Return the USB update drive in the prepaid postage envelope included in the kit.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If an error code(s) (ie.1312; 109; 200; etc)
or “Updating has failed” message occurs,
leave the USB drive in the USB port. Then
use a ballpoint pen to press the Reset (D)
button located next to the Tune Knob.
The update should resume after the
system resets.
